A really well designed sleep story. I really enjoyed the nature sounds overlaid with the narration. The story is both fascinating and relaxing. Such an enjoyable listen!

Cute, but forgettable
Revisado: 04-04-24
Not quite sure why this is a best seller. I had to listen to it on 1.5 speed because otherwise my mind would drift. Lightly interesting subject but the characters all seem one dimensional, some of the main characters choices leave loose ends, and the big reveal at the end wasn’t much of a shocker. Still, it was entertaining and at least now I know what everyone else is talking about. I’d recommend it for a quick summer beach read, but that’s about it

Historia
Fumio Sasaki is not an enlightened minimalism expert or organizing guru like Marie Kondo - he's just a regular guy who was stressed out and constantly comparing himself to others, until one day he decided to change his life by saying goodbye to everything he didn't absolutely need. The effects were remarkable: Sasaki gained true freedom, new focus, and a real sense of gratitude for everything around him.

A reassuring book asking you to consider your stuff
Revisado: 02-17-24
The author has strong convictions about minimalism and writes from his direct experience in becoming a minimalist. Some of the ideas work for me, but some don’t at all. However I think the true value of the book is it inspires you to look at your relationship with your things and consider the potential to experience positive effects of owning less things. A worthwhile read for anyone looking to reduce clutter.

Now they’re taking over the Christmas pageant. The Herdmans have never heard the Christmas story before, and they don’t know anything about shepherds or Wise Men. When Imogene hears about the swaddling clothes, she demands to know why anyone would tie up a baby and put him in a feedbox.

Interesting but not the info I wanted
Revisado: 11-17-23
I would have preferred to hear more about dogs and less about dog-related experiments. It did answer some of my curiosities about dogs, but most of the course concerned the ins and outs of the experiments that provided the information (often inconclusive) rather than delving into the relevancy of the facts themselves.

At first, she struggles to find a place in this new existence. Historia
In Kindred, Neanderthal expert Becky Wragg Sykes shoves aside the cliché of the shivering ragged figure in an icy wasteland and reveals the Neanderthal you don’t know, who lived across vast and diverse tracts of Eurasia and survived through hundreds of thousands of years of massive climate change. Using a thematic rather than chronological approach, this book will shed new light on where they lived, what they ate and the increasingly complex Neanderthal culture that is being discovered.

Brings Neanderthals to life
Revisado: 03-08-22
I did not know much of anything about Neanderthals before listening to this book. The descriptive narration combined with a myriad of facts is very informative and at the same time brings the experience of Neanderthals to life in a way that I have not seen in such a highly researched text before. I would recommend this book to both scholars and the casual listener. I appreciated that it was read by the author; I was impressed with her depth of knowledge on the subject and her ability to convey her knowledge in a way that is both accessible and fascinating to listeners.

Mispronunciations are distracting
Revisado: 11-19-21
If you’re going to write a book based on actual places, places that you obviously aren’t native to, the least you can do is know how to pronounce them correctly.
Im from Napa Valley and it’s St. He-LEE-nuh. Not St. HELL-in-ah.
Anyone who has spent any time in the Bay Area knows that.
I hate to nitpick a point, but it’s so distracting, and takes me out of the story every time she says it.

If only the narration was a brilliant as the story
Revisado: 10-24-20
The story is engaging and well written—full of twists and turns keeping you guessing.
The narration sounds for the most part, stilted and stuff. Plus, the attempts at an English accent are sadly autrocious. Finally, all of the characters, men and women alike, are read is such a similar tone that it is a surprise who is speaking at times. For me, the narration detracted from the story.
