Historia
My husband is dead. I attended his funeral. I watched his casket be lowered six feet into the ground. (Actually, it may have been only five feet, but that still seems like more than enough.) And then we ate an array of finger sandwiches and deviled eggs and miniature beef wellingtons that cost more than my first car. My point is, Grant is gone. And so are all his many, many deep, dark secrets which I never really ever bothered to ask him about. He is never coming back.

So crazy and funny. Just the right length for the type of story. The protagonist is funny and stupid.

Historia
For GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton, McAlpine Lodge seems like the ideal getaway to celebrate their honeymoon. Set on a gorgeous, off-the-grid mountaintop property, it’s the perfect place to unplug and reconnect. Until a bone-chilling scream cuts through the night. Mercy McAlpine, the manager of the Lodge, is dead. With a vicious storm raging and the one access road to the property washed out, the murderer must be someone on the mountain. But as Will and Sara investigate the McAlpine family and the other guests, they realize that everyone here is lying.

Loved it
Revisado: 09-15-23
Stephen King does it again. This book continues a saga of Holly Gibney and her investigations. If you have a weak stomach then this is not the book for you. Covid is mentioned in this book, but not the main theme. The story is short, but overall I liked it.

Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Historia
Sakima, New York, a sleepy, idyllic city nestled in the Hudson Valley, a place where everyone knows each other, families look after the highly prized community garden, and the crime rate is so low that Dr. Laura Powell, the police department’s medical examiner, spends most of her time tending to her own private medical practice. That changes drastically the day a local high school student is found dead, an apparent suicide. Called in to perform the autopsy, Laura uncovers a strange growth inside the body that leads to a horrifying discovery.

This one unnerved me
Revisado: 10-06-21
I do not get scared often by books I read. Horror books I just find interesting. Ghost books if the story is good I find interesting. Books that delve into virus or pericytes or some fungus infecting me and being easily passed on from person to person, scares me. Even if the issue presented in this book is fictitious, it made me very uncomfortable. I felt the fear of the characters almost as if it was happening to me. I always feared that one day some disease or event level extinction occurring will end my life if it happens during my life time. The pandemic that we are working through now has been emotionally devastating. So, a book like this really gets to me. The descriptions of how people looked and their reaction to the fungus was very well written. I would definitely read additions books written by this author.

Another great Lapena read
Revisado: 08-16-21
Awesome story. A rich mother and father in of a very unhappy family are found Brutally murdered after an Easter family dinner. All family members are possible culprits. Each are pointing to the brother as the one who killed them. But, at least three have no true alibi. It was great trying to determine who done it.
Love Shari Lapena books and this was another good one.

Revisado: 08-16-21
Wow, this was a great book. Ruby who comes back to a town where everyone took part in getting her convicted causes nothing but trouble in the quiet town. Everyone has something to hide, what will they do to keep it hidden.
The end of course all things come to light, but it's a rough ride getting there.
I highly recommend reading this book.

Revisado: 08-16-21
As usual B.A. Paris come through again with an amazing novel.I knew that Anne was going to be pegged to be killed, but as usual I did not figure out the perp until almost just before it was revealed. I was suspect but, the author made many of the people appear involved in the death of the therapist. There is a twist in the story, and I suggest you get.the book and read it to find out all of the twists.

Excellent story and very well done audio reading.
Revisado: 08-16-21
I always have trouble getting into some of Stephen Kings books, but know that eventually I will get a great read. Essentially the story is about Billy Summers who is a for hire killer. Obviously, we should see his as someone bad and dislike him. But, after you start reading this book you love him, because he is like a Dexter in a sense. He only willing to kill if the person is bad and deserves it. Unfortunately he takes on a last job that he should not have taken.
I really loved how Stephen King inputs pieces of his other books into his new books. In part of the book he mentions Hemingford Homes. I love how almost all of his books can be linked back to other books. You just have to notice the hints.
I do not want to tell you the entire story, so you will have to read it yourself.
