the story went nowhere
Revisado: 04-25-25
a lot of the plot points made no sense and the big reveal in the end was half hearted. the acting was at most weak and the dialogue is just atypical dialogue. I just feel the weakest part is the story itself.

compelling, educational, moving and inspiring
Revisado: 01-02-25
all stories were compelling with fantastic bgm but somehow the story of the young diplomat was for me the most affecting for me. what a story and so much heartbreak. you can hear how the military feels about the politicians' decisions.

feels too long winded for such a short story
Revisado: 10-15-24
I thought it would be 3 quests in one book but in actual fact it is 1 quest 1 book. problem is the quest isn't particularly interesting and it feels so long winded and repetitive in many phrases. feels like percy is stuck and not moving forward. the narrator wasn't as good as i hoped. I couldn't differentiate whether hr was monologuing or talking to another character since all sounds the same except for a few who sounds more cartoonish than intended maybe. this percy has wit and sarcasm but in words and not in performance. but the story itself is seriously should be 1 or 3 stories in 1 book.

Historia
There was a time when Cicero held Caesar’s life in the palm of his hand. But now Caesar is the dominant figure, and Cicero’s life is in ruins. Exiled, separated from his wife and children, his possessions confiscated, his life constantly in danger, Cicero is tormented by the knowledge that he has sacrificed power for the sake of his principles. His comeback requires wit, skill and courage - and, for a brief and glorious period, the legendary orator is once more the supreme senator in Rome.

heart wrecking end to a monumental work
Revisado: 10-02-24
I was a fan of the trilogy when they were first released. the books are so well written, weaving an intricate story of a time when so many great and not so great men and women lived. the story was never doubted. the narrator tho was not good at first, I can't different from 1 character to another character. but towards the last few chapters his delivery was better eventhough I felt something was missing. that something I found in the narrators for book 1 and especially book 2. but the story is so addictive with a heart wrenching ending, the inadequacies of the narrator isn't felt much more than mere what ifs.

Historia
Rome, 63 BC. In a city on the brink of acquiring a vast empire, seven men are struggling for power. Cicero is consul, Caesar his ruthless young rival, Pompey the republic's greatest general, Crassus its richest man, Cato a political fanatic, Catilina a psychopath, Clodius an ambitious playboy. The stories of these real historical figures - their alliances and betrayals, their cruelties and seductions, their brilliance and their crimes - are all interleaved to form this epic novel.

the acting in here is supremely magnificent. I could feel each character's distinct personality and this is thanks to the narrator who read the story with so much passion, this is like a stage play. only issue is inconsistent pronunciation of some names but that scene where cicero chased and shamed caitilina away is just superb piece of reading.
