Historia
Big Red and Old Red Amlingmeyer’s dream has come true: The Sherlock Holmes-worshiping cowboy brothers are finally in business as professional detectives. But their fledgling A.A. Western Detective Agency faces a few challenges. Their partner, Col. Crowe, is almost as cantankerous and secretive as Old Red himself. The colonel’s daughter, Diana, insists on tagging along for the Amlingmeyers’ first assignment, which lands them smack dab in the middle of a range war - with Big Red and Old Red expected to shoot it out with rustlers rather than rustle up clues and solve a mystery.

Action packed adventure for the Double A
Revisado: 07-06-24
Great story with some fun twists, a lot of good action and, of course, brilliant deducifying. This reader is the worst in the series, though. There were too many mispronounced words and sentences read in a way that made it clear that the reader didn’t understand the meaning as he put accents on the wrong words and pauses in odd places.

Historia
In the days of the frontier West, it was not unusual for desperadoes and fugitives from justice to seemingly disappear from the face of the earth. Shadow on the Trail by Zane Grey, one of the best-selling authors of all time, is the story of one such man who returned to reestablish himself in a law-abiding society. In Texas, young bank robber Wade Holden, once the toughest, fastest trigger man in the notorious Simm Bell gang, makes a promise to his dying mentor that he will go straight. But with the Rangers on his tail, he struggles to find sanctuary.

Solid, Zane Grey, classic, amateurish reading.
Revisado: 11-12-23
Zane Grey classic with lots of action, romance, and good versus evil. The reader mispronounced words, got the emphasis and phrasing wrong, and was inconsistent in the way he voiced the characters. This book deserves better.

Historia
In Fool Me Once, renowned expert Kelly Richmond Pope shows fraud in action, uncovering what makes perps tick, victims so gullible, and whistleblowers so morally righteous, while also encouraging us to look at our own behaviors and motivations in the hopes of protecting ourselves and our companies.
By the time you finish this book, you'll have a better understanding of—and perhaps more compassion for—perpetrators; a renewed connection to victims; and an appreciation for those who blow the whistle.

Repetitive timer, academic, moderately interesting.
Revisado: 05-19-23
The author makes her points quickly, and then makes them again and again and again, and again, and again. The narrator is uninspiring. But there are a few interesting principles, many interesting case studies, and there’s something to be learned.

This was a fun mystery story, a little short for the price, but entertaining with engaging characters. It is read by the author, and would have been done better justice by one of the many skilled actors who record for audible.

Historia
In one of his earliest cases, Ellery Queen confronts a murder in blue blood. From the very beginning, the Khalkis case struck a somber note. It began, as was peculiarly harmonious in the light of what was to come, with the death of an old man. Georg Khalkis, internationally famous art dealer and collector, died of heart failure. After his funeral, his attorney found that the will was missing and immediately called in the district attorney. When Inspector Queen and his son, Ellery, are brought in to solve the mystery, Ellery mentions the one place they have not searched for the will: the coffin.

Texas. They took the most contrary bunch of frontiersmen, ranchers, farmers, cowpokes, shiftless no-accounts, shootists, rascals, and politicians, jumbled them together, and somehow formed a state. They called it Texas, but for defenseless women and children, it was hell.

Good story - spotty performance

Good Zane grey yarn packed with action and romance. Uneven reading often with odd emphasis and inappropriate pauses. The voice timbre abruptly changes, sometimes mid sentence. The flaws in the reading can be distracting.

The year is 1910. Nate Cooper is an old-school cowboy. He sees the change brought by the turn of the century and reckons none of it to be good. Even after spending nearly 30 years in a Montana prison for a wrongful murder conviction, Nate’s moral compass is true and unwavering: He does all the wrong things for all the right reasons. So when he returns to his northern Montana ranching town to find the Blackfoot Indians - the people he went to prison trying to defend - are still being cheated out of their territory by ranchers, Nate can’t rest on his laurels.

Great Western Yarn
Revisado: 01-05-20
Rich with real characters during a time of transition in the west. Worth a listen by any fan of the traditional Western.
The narration is OK. Character voices and tone shifts happen. The book is strong enough to more than overcome these, though, for a 5 star rating.
