Couldn’t get through it
Revisado: 05-10-23
Usually love his writing but not this time. Narrator wasn’t any help in maintaining interest. Hate to say it but just not a book I’d recommend.

Just okay
Revisado: 05-10-23
Hard to believe from the get go and, to me, the ending was predictable too soon so I slogged through. I’m not a sci fi lover so maybe that made it less l than a top rated story to me. Just so so.

Suffered Through It
Revisado: 05-06-23
The vocals were horrendous and the story weak and overly dramatic. I had to read it for Bookclub and lost hours of my life with it. Love historical fiction but this was awful. Sorry, just not worth a minute.

The New York Times best-selling author of 13 Hours and Lost in Shangri-La delivers his most compelling and vital work yet - a spellbinding, heartbreaking, and ultimately uplifting narrative, years in the making, that weaves together myriad stories to create the definitive portrait of 9/11.

Incredible!
Revisado: 04-13-23
As someone who was personally impacted by 9/11 events, I wanted to read this to learn more about that day and events that lead up to it. This was fascinating, well researched and told from perspectives that pulled me in and gave heart to the terrible outcomes. So we’ll written and the narrator was excellent. Recommend for any history buff or person who wants to look behind the curtain of how this catastrophe occurred.

Historia
Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

Redundant
Revisado: 05-14-21
I’m not sure if it’s her editor or her style, but I just can’t do another Kristin Hannah book. Nightingale was an outlier of perfection but the novels since then have been such a disappointment. The last few pages of this book underscore the repetitious, long winded descriptions that have come to fill too many pages of her stories. How many ways can one say goodbye to a loved one? Apparently many ways with the same words in a “newt the dead horse” fashion! After this book, I’m swearing off this writer and, sadly, my book club members are too. Too bad for Kristin but, really, it’s become painful. Suggest a new publisher and editor to get back to quality writing of Nightengale.

Enthralling!
Revisado: 04-19-18
Beautifully written with excellent character development and depth. Cassandra brings this story to life with her soothing voice and perfect inflections when necessary. She doesn’t overdo or over act a character, she performs a perfect balance of each characters voice.
The story is heartbreaking and told so well. the flashbacks are woven in so skillfully, Celeste’s talent and her editors guidance are to be applauded. I couldn’t wait to hike, walk the dog or drive so I could hear what happens next. Highly recommend!!
