Historia
Professor Allison Friederichs will walk you through six lessons that can help you better know your own mind, and thus understand and transform your own methods of communication. You will learn how your brain acquires, processes, and retains information. You can then take that knowledge and apply it whenever you need to convey something to others, with the best possible results. While you may not have any control over how other people communicate, developing your own methods of connection and conversation can have a positive impact on both your personal and professional life.

Pro’s: Allison Friederichs Atkison is a superb teacher, you won’t find a better one. The lectures are concise, very descriptive and informative. She give good examples and has a great sense of humor.
Con’s: More please, I could easily have listened to 20 more hours of her lectures.

Modern history is filled with terrible crimes, baffling hoaxes, and seedy scandals. The infamous Jack the Ripper slayings. The alleged survival of Anastasia Romanov, the youngest daughter of the murdered Tsar. Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong's public fall from grace. The Chicago Tylenol poisonings and the copycat crimes that followed.

Not as good as I thought it would be. The author/speaker is an anthropologist. Would have been more interesting if a trained pathologist/medical doctor gave the lectures.
Pro’s-good historical overview.
Con’s-too many off topic opinions. At times sounded like a tabloid.

Historia
Whatever the form, whatever the treat - sugar drives us wild like nothing else. It’s lingered on our tongues for millennia and found its way into almost every household in the world. Alas, the history of sugar is far from sweet. Long before it was linked to America’s obesity epidemic, sugar was fueling the dark forces of exploitation, colonization, conquest, and slavery. More than just candy and cake, sugar has drastically altered the diets, cultures, and economies of the modern world. How can we love sugar while having a healthy relationship with its bittersweet history?

Revisado: 10-15-23
Too many extraneous and lengthy side-topics detracted from the core subject matter. Eg; a side of evolutionary theory and much too long diatribe on the history of the colonial empires and the tragic results of the slave trade. The last chapter on how sugar is added to almost all processed foods was much more relevant.

Social Justice Fallacies

Historia
The quest for social justice is a powerful crusade of our time, with an appeal to many different people, for many different reasons. But those who use the same words do not always present the same meanings. Clarifying those meanings is the first step toward finding out what we agree on and disagree on. From there, it is largely a question of what the facts are. Social Justice Fallacies reveals how many things that are thought to be true simply cannot stand up to documented facts, which are often the opposite of what is widely believed.

Another Thomas Sowell masterpiece
Revisado: 10-13-23
Pro’s-Throughly logical arguments, presented in an easy to understand manner. The author’s critique regarding social justice should be answered by progressives, not just dismissed out of hand. If progressives were honest they would have to admit Thomas Sowell make some profoundly interesting points.
Con’s-Some of this material has been covered by a few of his other books. The reader was rather bland and somewhat monotonous.

Historia
To some, the concept of having faith in a higher power or a set of religious beliefs is nonsensical. Indeed, many view religion in general, and Christianity in particular, as unfounded and unreasonable. 6Norman Geisler and Frank Turek argue, however, that Christianity is not only more reasonable than all other belief systems, but is indeed more rational than unbelief itself. With conviction and clear thinking, Geisler and Turek guide listeners through some of the traditional, tested arguments for the existence of a creator God.

Very entertaining and educational
Revisado: 08-03-23
Pro's: ton's of interesting and useful information. Entertaining and very descriptive.
con's: poor chapter organization, useless chapter titles.
The book overall was very good. I learned a lot and thought the ideas as presented were very useful. His description of his time in the Alaska wilderness was very entertaining. I didn't like how the book was organized. It should have had the hunt in Alaska at the start of the book and then all the details he learned from it afterwards. Also, more details on how to apply to our daily live what he learned from his adventure. Also, the chapter titles were stupid and basically useless.

It was OK, but not as interesting as I thought it would be. The presenter is a hard core scientist. Once you choke down all the evolutionary theory it was slightly more interesting.
