After listening to this Jack Emory story, I still think Book 2 is my favorite, but this one did not disappoint either. I enjoyed how detailed the book was and how much the author delved into the backgrounds and mindsets of the characters, giving you a much deeper understanding of why their thought process led to their actions. The only thing about the story I did not like, was near the end. There was no explanation for what happened on the sub, it built to a crescendo of what was happening, and then just quit talking about it. It really left me wanting more because I want to know what happened.

Two corrections to the book I can across was the narrator’s use of “M16” when it should be “MI6”. The printed book had it correct, it was just read wrong. The other, is one most people probably would not notice, and that was the use of the word “clip” when it should be “magazine” when talking about reloading firearms. A clip is one you’d use for a fully-automatic firearm and a magazine is what is used in most semi-autos, all pistols, etc.

But, overall, it was a great book and I cannot wait to read, or listen to, the next one!

As much as I loved Book 1 in the Jack Emory series (The Foundation), I loved this one even more. The narrator was amazing, a much better fit than from The Foundation. As with the first book, it was very relatable. I could definitely see something similar happening, no matter how scary it would be, unfortunately. Steve P. Vincent did a great job roping you in, getting attached to a character, and then breaking your heart when one ended up dead, lol. I went through this book much faster than the first because I did not want to stop listening. I even got the ebook so I could continue reading when I wasn’t able to listen. I am definitely glad I found him and his books, I can’t wait to read more.

I found Steve P. Vincent when he took over one of my favorite series of all time after Vince Flynn lost his battle with cancer. From there, I found Jack Emery and I am glad I did.

The story is kind of scary thinking how much a person, or group, can influence so much if they are big enough. But I loved how “normal” every day people did their best against them. More than once, I sat in my car in the driveway after getting home because I was in a part of the book I did not want to turn off.

The only thing I did not like, was the person that read the book. There was little change between characters, so much so it was sometimes difficult to follow who was speaking. The main character was from Australia and others were from England, and there were no accents at all.

This was a GREAT book, and I am already listening to the second book in the series.
