Historia
I love my life. Taking care of our B&B alongside my dads fuels my soul, but I can't help wishing I had someone special too. It doesn't help that I'm attracted to men twice my age who all seem to think I'm not worth their time. Then our new chef offers to be my wingman and show me the ropes to dating. He’s straight and my age, and shouldn’t be my type. So, what's the meaning of the damn butterflies in my stomach whenever he's around?

Dove to you
Revisado: 01-05-25
This third book in the Doves of Destiny series was a fun read, And that's not just because he included my favorite couple from Christmas Falls (Season 1), Bruce and Felix. From their not so meet cute ,a very drunk Levi falls into Andy's lap and cries himself to sleep to their realization that this wasn't just a fling, Levi and Andy just fit.
The audio version takes the story to new heights. Zachary Zaba has such a smooth voice and gives the characters laid back personalities. Listening, I found this less a city boy/country boy and more a fated mates tale. All under the watchful eyes of Wintertown's Doves of Destiny. This was a sweet romance, something Ms. Cox excels at.
Everything about this audiobook made it easy to rate it five stars. The story and worldbuilding is excellent. The audio pacing an absolute delight. The friend group in Wintertown have found their HEAs. But maybe there are more. Or maybe the B&B will be doing so well. that Levi and Andy can come visit Christmas Falls and the Milton Falls Tree Farm for Season three.
I received an advanced audiobook from the author and this is my grateful review.

Historia
Jack Hulbert has worked at the hardware store Nuts and Bolts since he was sixteen. He had big dreams of leaving town and traveling, but five years later, not much has changed, and he worries he'll end up living the rest of his life in the small town he was born in. Hudson Carter has been working in Sacramento for the past ten years, managing a big box store. He left Foggy Basin for college in the city and he never once looked back. His parents have owned the hardware store in town for two generations, and he'd hoped to avoid the same fate.

Sweet small town
Revisado: 11-10-24
The audio version of BL Maxwell's Nuts and Bolts does credit to the story. Guy Veryzer's narration gives a nice, laid back tone to a sweet story about a city boy coming back to his country roots. Hudson Carter left Foggy Basin twenty years ago to go to college and then work in Sacramento. He doesn't love his job and the news that his dad, Jonas, is going to sell the family hardware store gives him the chance to reassess his life. Jack Hulbert has never traveled far from Foggy Basin. Why should he? His family and friends are all there, and he loves his job at Nuts and Bolts, the Carter family hardware store. He manages the store as Jonas slowly steps away from it.
This is a grumpy/grumpy, city vs. country, small town trope story with an age gap between the main characters. Jack and Hudson clash, but are attracted, become friends, than lovers in a few short weeks. Their date at the lake was very romantic, and the sizzle will make your ears tingle.
I loved the book, but like all BL Maxwell stories, found it too short, too quickly read. This audio adds an extra sweetness. Very relaxing.

Historia
I see the irony of being the owner of a Christmas tree farm and hating the very holiday that keeps my family business alive, but Christmas Falls takes this season way too seriously with their festive business names to the sheer merriment that envelops the entire town. I'm no grinch, but I can relate to one being surrounded by all this jubilance. It doesn't help when a new part-timer joins the tree farm and is the very embodiment of joy, starting from his name—Felix Joy.

Angel and the grump
Revisado: 11-02-24
I read the Christmas Falls season one series last year. A wonderful town filled with great characters. The Milton Falls Christmas Tree farm was mentioned in several, as well as it's grumpy proprietor. I couldn't wait for book eight and Bruce and Felix's story. Felix was an absolute angel. And Bruce was gruff, but ever so caring. The type of man who would fit into his already crowded workday, a stop to check on his mom's clogged kitchen sink. Totally. Swoon worthy.
There was angst. Mostly of the "I'm too old/too boring" variety. Good thing Felix kissed that notion right out of Bruce's head. I loved how Bruce interacted with his parents and siblings. I'm really hoping that another Brooks brother gets his HEA in season two.
Zachary Zaba brought Bruce and Felix to life with his smooth, sexy narration of the RSG audiobook. It gave me a chance to fall in love with them all over again.

Poe's Demon
Revisado: 09-09-24
Demon's In the Details was the first Meghan Maslow book I ever read. And reread. Poe called Tommy a murder twink from the moment he met him. And saw him sucking down the soul of a person who didn't fulfill their end of the bargain he'd made with Tommy. Seeing Tommy in all his demonic glory gave him a hard on. Tommy was adorable. From their first touch, he knew he wanted Poe. Yet he tried to warn him away, not wanting to take his soul. Carter, Ollie and Kennedy were great secondaries.
Hearing the story in Greg Boudreaux's voice added a delicious layer to the tale. From Poe's no nonsense attitude to Tommy's Southern drawl, it added jut a touch more spice.
A great read. Ans a wonderful narration.

Historia
Trent Pielmeyer is so done with legend tripping. Hauntings? Nope. Cryptid sightings? Hard pass. Dimensional portals? Not just no but oh, hell no. Because after seven years’ captivity in a whacked-out alternate reality, he’s been there and done that and done that and done that. No more supernatural shenanigans for him. Ever. Full stop.

His wolf
Revisado: 08-10-24
I had read Wolf's Clothing ages ago. Hearing the story definitely added depth and really upped the enjoyment factor. Both Trent and Christophe are damaged. Trent from his seven years trapped in the Ghost Wars. And Christophe from what he feels is his curse, needing to shift into his wolf. Christophe didn't dismiss Trents story and say he was crazy. But how he revealed his wolf to Trent was quite funny and had me laughing out loud.
I loved their spirit and their bravery. Joel Leslie has a lovely and relaxing voice. And really brought the story alive for me.

Bran and Jordan
Revisado: 07-25-24
Sometimes you say "The book was better" about movie adaptations. I personally enjoy the movie more if I've read the book. Sorry to say about this audio. The book was better. Mostly.
Allen Jeffries did well with some of the voices, the old lady spirit was pretty good. And Jordan was okay. However, the voice he used for Bran made him sound as he had a stuffed nose.
The audio did give a bit of color to the worldbuilding. It did make me want to reread the book with new eyes. Jeffries does have a soothing voice. Just needed a new tone for Bran.
