Seriously? That ending had me standing with my mouth open! Ugh… stupid cliffhangers 🤦🏼♀️
I’m not sure how to rate this book. The first 70% of the book was mostly interesting but I found myself getting distracted multiple times, that is probably my ADHD and my kids fault though.
BUT the last 30% had me on an emotional roller coaster and on the edge of my seat so for that I will give 4 stars. Overall it has everything a YA fantasy book should even a torturous cliffhanger!!!

I really enjoyed this.
If I had to compare it to another book I would say it’s similar to Pride and Premeditation by Tirzah Price and Spellbreaker by Charlie Holmberg. All of which are amazing books ♥️.

So amazingly different from other fantasy books!!
I like how it was set in a modern world with gods and magic. Not to mention rabbits and birds that deliver mail and are wonderfully sarcastic and crude lol. Very interesting.

The mystery of who the killer was had me on my toes and guessing the entire book and I was shocked when it was revealed. So double points for that. There were multiple things revealed at the end that I didn’t see coming and I love when a book can do that. When you read a lot of fantasy books, they tend to be very predictable and this book was anything but predictable.
The only thing that has me weary of continuing the series is I don’t like how the relationship between the two characters ended. I’m worried that it keeps it open to much for a love triangle to develop. 🤷🏼♀️

I love any book that gives off Aladdin vibes, it’s one of my favorite Disney movies.
This book definitely has a lot of my favorite tropes and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the second book doesn’t bring in the worst trope of all… love triangle 🤮🫣 I was getting some love triangle vibes in the last few chapters and I pray I’m wrong because nothing ruins a book faster for me.
This book has:
✅ sarcastic djinn
✅ moody and mysterious male interest
✅ sibling love
✅ tea magic (which you don’t see used a lot in YA fantasy)
✅ enemies to lovers
✅ rebellion
✅ adventure and action
And so much more…
It was one of those books that you are sad when it ends. Hello, book hangover 😢
