Reliably chugging along!
Revisado: 07-29-22
CF IX presents us with our heroes scattered about the setting, so we get extended views of more individual quests and adventures. Mr. Bevan continues to delight with great, and yes still sometimes cringe-worthy, humor, but also a set of characters in a very relatable process of coming to terms with themselves in new and interesting ways. The depth of the development sneaks up on you in these books. In the meantime, plenty of silly adventure, high stakes thrills, interesting world-building, and hilarious moments. Looking forward to the next one yet again.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Revisado: 07-29-22
This series was recommended on one of my favorite podcasts, so I had to check it out. This is funny, intense, and sometimes brutal story-telling with plenty of LitRPG bells and whistles. If you, like me, find stat and loot updates mid-story to be oddly satisfying, this is just the kind of thing you're looking for. The book does not take itself too seriously, but it presents some serious moments with surprising gravitas. Also has an excellent cat. I'm moving immediately into Book 2.

Historia
The apocalypse will be televised! You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That’s what. Join Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game–like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon.

Historia
It’s been 50 years since the crossroads caused the disappearance of Thomas Price, and his wife, Alice, has been trying to find him and bring him home ever since, despite the increasing probability that he’s no longer alive for her to find. Now that the crossroads have been destroyed, she’s redoubling her efforts. It’s time to bring him home, dead or alive. Preferably alive, of course, but she’s tired, and at this point, she’s not that picky.

Incryptid delivers another new turn and it's great
Revisado: 07-26-22
My favorite series switches to a fresh perspective today with a Price family member we know, but haven't had center-stage before. As always, this takes an already great setting and series and shifts it in a new direction and adds fresh flavor. Very much enjoyed this latest volume and fascinated to see where the series goes next!

Historia
My name’s Bill Ryder and, despite being a legendary creature of the night, I’m not having the best of days. My girlfriend is trapped in another dimension, my apartment’s being staked out by werewolves, and to top it all off I’m flat freaking broke. Too bad there’s no rest for the wicked. Monstrous beasts of biblical proportions have been unleashed upon the world, leaving me with a mighty big question. How the hell is one poor-ass vamp supposed to stop something the size of a battleship?

Great advancement of the series!
Revisado: 07-26-22
The Liching Hour pays off at every level: humor, horror, action, adventure, even a little romance and a cute kitten. On top of that we've got some great world-building and plot advancement--definitely NOT just a filler piece, don't miss this one! The pairing of Mr. Fetherolf with this series continues to be absolute genius; he is the voice of Bill and his delivery of other characters runs from enjoyable to absolutely hysterical.
One of the best parts of this second series is catching the actual evolution of the main characters. Bill remains something of a clueless jerk who usually means well, but you get increasing peaks under the surface at a little more maturity and responsibility. I guess a second round of apocalyptic events can be good for a guy, who knew?
Enjoyed every minute. Looking forward to the next one.

Historia
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Historia
24/7 Demon Mart: Publisher's Pack features two books from the 24/7 Demon Mart series: The Graveyard Shift, book one, and Monster Burger, book two. It also includes the bonus Hell for the Holidays, a 24/7 Demon Mart Christmas special. Lloyd Wallace is the most clueless crossing guard the intersection of hell and earth has ever seen. So clueless, that he doesn't even realize the beer cave in the corner store where he works is the gateway to hell.

A great buy -- funny, lively, well-done!
Revisado: 08-24-21
This "Publisher's Pack" is a great buy: two hilarious full novels and a bonus novella, all great listens.
If you appreciate a lovable loser, clever use of language, and slightly goofball hellish humor, this is definitely a book for you! If you're not a fan of a protagonist who fails-up or need characters to evolve at high speed, this might not be your cup of tea. I really enjoyed it! The stories are straightforward and tight and the jokes are solid. The characters are interesting and definitely grow on you. I plan to keep an eye out for more work by this author.
The narration is truly first rate. The stories are written entirely from a first-person perspective allowing the narrator to truly become the character. Mr. Haberkorn's voice acting prowess is really on display here with unrelenting commitment to character and great comedic timing. He and these books are really well matched.

Historia
My name’s Bill Ryder and, oddly enough, my lack of heartbeat is probably the least concerning thing in my life. My witch girlfriend has been marked for death by a vampire temptress who wants me for herself. With both sides spoiling for a fight, the chances of them talking out their problems over lunch are slim. While I’d love to help smooth things over, I’ve been way too distracted dealing with evil leprechauns and redneck werewolves.

Thought provoking and friendly
Revisado: 02-05-20
We continue to learn more about the Galactic Commons (GC) world in this second Wayfarers book. Be advised up front, this volume continues to explore the universe presented in A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, but does not directly continue the story of those characters. Instead, it takes us on a deep dive into two figures briefly introduced in the first book. As in the first book, more and more of the GC universe and its background story is revealed. Also as in the first book, this work provokes questions about identify, humanity, social philosophy, and more, but does so in a very friendly, very accessible way. Loved it.
