A difficult listen

As upsetting as it was to listen to the horrific description of the indignities routinely suffered by the enslaved characters in the book, it was equally awe inspiring to listen to the main character’s drive to maintain his humanity and prevail against all odds.

This well researched and credible analysis of the simmering conflicts among US, Russia and China and how those conflicts can potentially be reduced is both terrifying and hopeful. Well worth listening to.

Cohen asserts that he lied, cheated and bullied others knowingly and enthusiastically on Trump’s behalf yet felt betrayed when Trump turned on Cohen in an effort to protect himself from the fall-out of those tactics. Cohen acknowledges the amorality of his behavior and offers no excuses nor does he seek any mercy for his conduct. He asks only that the public understand that Trump has no understanding of nor appreciation for the US Constitution and that Trump’s all consuming drive for power at all costs is a threat to our Republic. To that extent, Cohen has earned a modicum of redemption.

The world failed to confront Hitler and the Third Reich when doing so could have stopped the conflagration his policies caused. It’s never a good idea to let extremism get established.
