What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I love audio books - I've listened to over 400 books with Audible. Some books take some time to get into. Some books have a slow start. I suffered through the first half-hour of this book before I gave up on it. The beginning is slow and difficult to understand because the author does not give you much framework to place the story in. It then goes on to introduce new people, with assumed ideas and odd references. I kept thinking "whaattt??".

An absolutely riveting, addictive tale

McKinley is a seriously talented fiction writer. This is like some c- assignment she did for a high school creative writing class. It has all of the elements of a saucy, sexy blood-sucker book, but the plot is sloooooooowww and teeeeeedious. Added to this, the story should be told by a 20-year old and the narrator sounds like a 65-year-old on helium. AWFUL to listen to.
I am fairly confident that the only reason this was released was because vamp novels are all the rage. Cheap shot.

Charm is good business. It can increase your income, boost your status, and establish and maintain your reputation. Most businesspeople don't fully understand the concept of charm. It ought to be a reflex, a conditioned response, to "turn on the charm" when dealing with customers, clients, associates, and employees, but it isn't. Charm draws customers. Charm gets noticed. But charm is only partly innate. Much of it is learned.
