A widening gulf between performance and accountability has caused history to be kinder to the American generals of World War II than to those of later wars. In The Generals we meet leaders from World War II to the present who rose to the occasion - and those who failed.

Required Reading for leaders
Revisado: 02-13-20
The book was very well researched and gave historical and current perspective as to why it is important to hold leadership accountable without regard to the status of their rank. Rank and File members are always watching leadership and see the double standards applied to incompetent Generals, they feel that if they would ever fail in the manner that most of these Generals had, they would be court-martialed and kicked out of the force. Lets apply the same standards to the senior leadership as you do to the soldiers you lead.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

a very silly story
Revisado: 08-23-18
the story really didn't make any sense whatsoever, I struggled trying to figure out what was the source of bringing people back to life or even why they were able to do so. the author never explain how this technology came about. so the entire story really fell short and never made any sense.

Enjoyed the book. normally don't like syfi, but this one kept my interest. I didn't like the epilog making reference to the allian dieing planet due to diminishing ozone...sounded too much like current liberal talking points.

Responding to pressure from on high, the Atlanta Police Department is forced to hire its first black officers. It's a victory of sorts, though the newly minted policemen are met with deep hostility by their white peers, and their authority is limited: They can't arrest a suspect unless a white officer is present; they can't drive squad cars; they can't even enter the station through the front door.

Historia
America is the land of the free, after all. Does it really matter whether our politicians bend the truth here and there? When the truth is traded for lies, our freedoms are diminished and don’t return. In Lies the Government Told You, Judge Andrew P. Napolitano reveals how America’s freedom, as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, has been forfeited by a government more protective of its own power than its obligations to preserve our individual liberties.

The army does not want you to listen to this book. It does not want to advertise its detention system that coddles enemy fighters while putting American soldiers at risk. It does not want to reveal the new lawyered-up Pentagon war ethic that prosecutes US soldiers and marines while setting free spies who kill Americans. This very system ambushed Captain Roger Hill and his men.

this was an incredible story that place me right in the middle of it. Bringing incredible memories of my time in service and dealing with commanders that will completely detached with the reality on the ground. More importantly the truth about self-promoting leaders like the one depicted in this book is complete disgrace and makes me sick to my stomach. any service member who has served or ever served under combat situations and question who in the world is making these decisions this book is for them

Jonathan Goldsmith has many answers to that question. For years he was a struggling actor in New York and Los Angeles, with experiences that included competing for roles with Dustin Hoffman, getting shot by John Wayne, drinking with Tennessee Williams, and sailing the high seas with Fernando Lamas, never mind romancing many lovely ladies along the way. However, it wasn't all fun and games for Jonathan. Frustrated with his career, he left Hollywood for other adventures in business and life.

What a life!
Revisado: 11-02-17
the author's life was filled with so many twists and turns, and just like he said much more like a roller coaster ride and adventure. The story is an example of how people never up and how taking the advice of the parent will give them the vision to continue no matter what. And enjoyable story many times hard to believe but certainly much more interesting than the commercials themselves.
