Historia
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

I'm late to the party on this series but I'm excited about it. I listen to Audible while working and finished Parable of the Sower today. I'm excited about working tomorrow and starting Book 2. Great narration...looking forward to the next listen.

Thank you Tareon for this podcast. I'm almost 55 and recently moved to a new city and a new agency. I'm gifted, talented and black and I'm realizing I may be a threat to some. I listen to this while working and it really puts things into a different perspective for me. My ancestors were verbally and physically abused by whites and nothing has changed but its soooo crafty in 2021! I'm calling on my Mother and Father Ancestor Spirits to help guide me thru these last 7 years of my career. I know they're proud of US and I want them to know I'm not a whiner but geesh...Racism cuts deep when you feel isolated. Please continue on this journey Sis! I'm here for it...and I'm listening. And I'm internalizing the good word you're depositing in my Spirit. Be blessed with you highly favored Self!

Historia
Today's feminist movement has a glaring blind spot, and paradoxically, it is women. Mainstream feminists rarely talk about meeting basic needs as a feminist issue, argues Mikki Kendall, but food insecurity, access to quality education, safe neighborhoods, a living wage, and medical care are all feminist issues. All too often, however, the focus is not on basic survival for the many, but on increasing privilege for the few. Author Mikki Kendall takes aim at the legitimacy of the modern feminist movement arguing that it has chronically failed to address the needs of all but a few women.

This was a very good listen while working. From start to finish, the author puts words to emotions and feelings that I've had since I was a young girl. I've always felt black women and girls are in a category all on our own. I feel like at least one somebody understands my journey. Thanks for sharing Mikki!

Historia
Leonid McGill's spent a lifetime building up his reputation in the New York investigative scene. His seemingly infallible instinct and inside knowledge of the crime world make him the ideal man to help when Phillip Worry comes knocking. Phillip "Catfish" Worry is a 92-year-old Mississippi bluesman who needs Leonid's help with a simple task: Deliver a letter revealing the black lineage of a wealthy heiress and her corrupt father. Unsurprisingly, the opportunity to do a simple favor while shocking the prevailing elite is too much for Leonid to resist.

Anything Walter Mosley is 5-star to me. Loved the narrator when he narrates the female voices...lol! I'm not surprised by the ending at all and kind of wish the story had lasted a bit longer.

Historia
In Stop Missing Your Life, mindfulness teacher Cory Muscara takes us on a journey into the heart of what is required for real change, growth, and happiness. He exposes how the phrase "be present" has become little more than a platitude, imbued with the misguided message to be present just for the sake of being present, and reveals how to achieve true Presence: a quality of being that is unmistakably attractive about a person, and one that only comes when we've peeled back the layers of guarding that prevent us from being our full, honest, and integrated selves in the world.

Very Insightful
Revisado: 10-27-20
I honestly didn't think I'd like this book but there were tons of little nuggets that I've incorporated into my meditation practice already. Great job on focus, presence and just having conversations within ourselves and speaking to those parts of us that we hide. I love the concept that everyone has fears, issues, pain and feel discomfort. I keep forgetting that when I experience contrast in my life. And the cow paths! Oh wow!!! Becoming my own best friend has been my m.o. for a while now...and its reassuring to hear someone else say its necessary. Just a great book if you're really trying to learn or unlearn things about yourself. Thank you for sharing your experience...now I don't have to go to a Buddhist monastery for these simple lessons.

Nice Job on the Subject
Revisado: 10-20-20
I tried to return this book but it wouldn't let me and I'm glad. The reason being is because when the author started talking about kids and church and all the stages that I've already been thru I wanted out...until she kept talking about Jesus. Just the mention of His name was enough to keep me engaged in the book and to actually allow me to see the similarities in her story and mine. I found myself saying Amen out loud and actually asking myself the questions near the end. It's refreshing to hear someone else say I don't have it together and I don't have to have it together to be loved and used by God.
