Historia
State and Revolution (1917) describes the role of the state in society, the necessity of proletarian revolution, and the theoretic inadequacies of social democracy in achieving revolution. It describes the inherent nature of the state as a tool for class oppression, a creation born of one social class' desire to control all other social classes. Whether a dictatorship or a democracy, the state remains in the control of the ruling class.

Historia
"The Innocent Mage is come, and we stand at the beginning of the end of everything." Being a fisherman like his father isn't a bad life, but it's not the one that Asher wants. Despite his humble roots, Asher has grand dreams. And they call him to Dorana, home of princes, beggars, and the warrior mages who have protected the kingdom for generations. Little does Asher know, however, that his arrival in the city is being closely watched by members of the Circle, people dedicated to preserving an ancient magic.

No, just no.
Revisado: 10-27-21
Herein lies much pain and stupidity with excellent narration and great writing. The magic is too unbelievable, the characters too predictable, the endurance of trope villainy is only matched by the endurance of the reader that downloads the next book in the series.

Revisado: 10-24-19
Almost Harem-ish. Almost game-lit. Almost great battles not spoiled by "accidents" Almost great treatment of magic related to incarnation with ancient wisdom. Exceptionally author got the internal dialog process right and in that regard every character given a big window rang true and relatable and the book was marked exceptional in that way. I will read the next one "almost" only to see what happens to the bird.

When they finally answer the call, they’re pulled into a fantastic world with themes similar to modern role-playing games. The world of Brindolla. This is what every gamer has always wanted...right?

Definitely enjoyed this book. The genre has some problems that this book is not immune to. As with all things you get over it or don't.

Historia
Alvin woke in a room that was not his, to discover that he had died and his brain had been bargained off cheaply to pay off someone else’s debt. It did not sit well with him. It didn’t surprise him that even in death, people were still using him for their own purposes. He had never exactly been a good guy, but everyone had their breaking point, and he had found his. The bastards in charge had uploaded his mind into a virtual death game. The whole world could now pay to see him play it and probably die. Regardless, he was not about to wait for death to come for him.

Great genre definition premise for the whole series. The powerups are punctuated by all kinds of exhaustingly detailed ways for the main characters to say "oh noes we are hopeless" wait let me use the horn that I should of used sooo many times before. You keep asking yourself when they will get a clue... maybe next book.

Historia
It is astonishing that Simón Bolívar, the great Liberator of South America, is not better known in the United States. He freed six countries from Spanish rule, traveled more than 75,000 miles on horseback to do so, and became the greatest figure in Latin American history. His life is epic, heroic, straight out of Hollywood: he fought battle after battle in punishing terrain, forged uncertain coalitions of competing forces and races, lost his beautiful wife soon after they married and died relatively young, uncertain whether his achievements would endure.

Narration Excellence and a riveting history
Revisado: 07-23-19
The author did really well with this material. I especially liked the treatment of dates and details. The author would speak with great eloquence about ideas etc. then drop a date or boring but important detail. Solid cry at the end, goose bumps on occasion. This was a story of a man and you can get a sense of him and the times very well.

Steve doesn’t know who he is. Or who he was. He doesn’t know anything, actually. Not even where he is. Other than a vast open field of dirt. All Steve knows is that he’s apparently supposed to build a farm. At least that’s his only workable assumption. Given the number of farm-tools left to him. That and the massive number of sacks full of seeds. Unfortunately, this isn’t even the strangest part of this new life. Hidden inside the farm tools, Steve finds messages. Messages that appear in floating windows in front of him.

Harem Gamelit ad nauseum
Revisado: 06-10-19
Great pains have been taken to present excessive sexual content in a story that might have stood up by itself. Narration was excellent and frankly heroic. Its obscene comic book level "lit" and just overdone with the harem aspect.
