Historia
It begins with a dead body at the far end of Baker Street tube station, all that remains of American exchange student James Gallagher - and the victim's wealthy, politically powerful family is understandably eager to get to the bottom of the gruesome murder. The trouble is, the bottom - if it exists at all - is deeper and more unnatural than anyone suspects...except, that is, for London constable and sorcerer's apprentice Peter Grant.

slyly referential to the genre, great multi-voiced narrator, just enough mystery, very amusing and entertaining!

boring treatment of exciting story

narrator could have saved this, but instead provides deadpan lifeless delivery of pedantic writing, definitely better than counting sheep for a good night of sleep. dated information and same-o same-o. save your credits

Historia
For three years, Jennifer Ackerman lived in the small coastal town of Lewes, Delaware, in the sort of blue-water, white-sand landscape that draws summer crowds up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Birds by the Shore is a book about discovering the natural life at the ocean's edge: the habits of shorebirds and seabirds, the movement of sand and water, the wealth of creatures that survive amid storm and surf. Against this landscape's rhythms, Ackerman revisits her own history - her mother's death, her father's illness, and her hopes to have children of her own.

Stop whispering Fiona!
Revisado: 10-06-22
Got super tired of the way Fiona drops into a whisper ! I get it, okay that's internal narration.. STOP! when i can hear the whispering, it's too loud when she does dialog, but then if i have the dialog set right, i can't hear the whisper. arggh. and otherwise the performance would have been perfect! love the characters and the story twists and turns.

Historia
The story of humanity is the story of textiles - as old as civilization itself. Since the first thread was spun, the need for textiles has driven technology, business, politics, and culture. In The Fabric of Civilization, Virginia Postrel synthesizes groundbreaking research from archaeology, economics, and science to reveal a surprising history. From Minoans exporting wool colored with precious purple dye to Egypt, to Romans arrayed in costly Chinese silk, the cloth trade paved the crossroads of the ancient world.
