Great story but …. I the narrator spoke in a sultry slow depressing voice
Revisado: 06-27-24
Loved the story. Had to get accustomed to the narrator. Jacob’s voice in this reading made me want to fast forward. I wish it would have been read in more strong voice. Narrator did great on the children’s voices. Loved the story anyway!

Historia
Vanessa Lawrence had a talent: falling for the wrong man. Case in point, her ex-husband. On the outside, the football player had looked perfect - handsome and rich. But Mr. Perfect turned out to be a lying, manipulative philanderer, and Vanessa vowed never to compromise herself for a man again. Then she met Nick DeAngelo. He was also handsome and rich. And he just happened to be a former football player. His disarming charm gave her a rush, and he sure knew how to sweep a girl off her feet.

Good grief! Whiny female. Painful to get through to the end.
Revisado: 04-18-24
The leading female could absolutely never be happy or have common sense. The whole story is constant arguing and the last 15 minutes she suddenly has a change of heart and becomes kind of nice. Narrator made the males sound like a 12 year old smoker. Did not enjoy. Had to fast forward and skip the middle to finally get to a mediocre ending.

Way too long
Revisado: 04-11-24
It’s extremely hard to listen to this narrator in a feminine voice. The men sounded like 12 year old boys. Narrator was not bad, just not a masculine reader. The bickering between the two mane characters became ridiculous. They never really even bonded. I skipped the middle and listened to the last hour and a half. I don’t feel like I missed anything except for Jack Garrett being the narrator.

Historia
Mitch Prescott was Shay Kendall's savior. He'd bought her mother's mansion on the Washington coast, a financial albatross that Shay couldn't handle. And now he offered her true financial independence - a dream as seductive as Mitch himself. All she had to do was help him write an exposé on her mother, a former Hollywood star. It felt disloyal, even though her mother would never know the difference. Once a legend, Rosamond now wasted away in a long-term care facility, clutching a doll she thought was her baby.

Very weak characters. Disappointing.
Revisado: 03-30-24
The two main characters were so childish. Linda Lael Miller is much better than this book! The characters were made to look like 12 year olds that got their feelings hurt over the most simple things. I LOVE Linda’s cowboy novels, they are masculine and smart. I rarely leave reviews that are negative, but this is mind boggling. I skipped chapters to at least grasp at some good meat and potatoes of a story. Whiney pushy characters…and a story I could not follow. Narrator was great.

Revisado: 10-01-23
1. Second time trying to finish this book but I soon remembered why I stopped. Why do authors feel the need to use God D***? Not at all my thing and I am by no means a goodie two shoes.
2. Way too long. Just spinning wheels in the mud and not going any where. Will not finish the book.

Questions unanswered in the ending.
Revisado: 09-30-23
The ending was abrupt and left so many questions. What about Alice’s fathers murder? Missing bank notes? And…. Why on earth did Marti fret so much over telling her husband of convenience about HER ranch? New husband didn’t do one thing to earn the ranch. The ranch was Marti’s and her first husband’s ranch. It annoyed me that it was automatically assumed her husband had every right to take over the ranch and live out his dream on her ranch rather than take into consideration she left Texas and the ranch life behind for a reason. Incomplete ending and slow story but enjoyable too. Very disappointing ending. I had stopped listening to this narrator for several months because I could not handle lips smacking and the mouth sounds and swallowing noises. But.. she did not make those sounds during this story and she really does have a beautiful voice.

Story would’ve been a good one but, the narrator kept smacking her lips when she talked. I know that sounds ridiculous but I was getting instant rage. I love the author and would listen every one of her books but she has the same narrator. I just can’t listen to mouth noises.

Great story, full of suspense. Ending was not expected and that was awesome. Same narrator though. I was hoping by the third book, we would have a narrator that could do male voices. No luck on that part.

Awesome story. Eh narrator
Revisado: 05-24-23
Story line was great. Mild suspense, great characters, good action. Loved the setting and the history of the tradition. The performance was ok. Female character did sound like a smoker, male character was not a masculine voice, but the story was awesome and I could not put it down. Narrator did not by any means sound like a true southern lady. Accent was totally off. I got used to the voices and finished the story and it was great. Will read more stories from this author, I’m just hoping she will have a different narrator.
