Too much talking about nothing

I wanted to like this podcast because the hosts seem like nice people and are interesting, but I do not need to know all the details about their lives, I tuned in to listen to a story about true crime, not about the hosts weddings.

These two babble between themselves so much it takes forever to get to the story… that may be the appeal for some people, but I couldn’t get past ten minutes of them talking about everything but the case.

Historia
For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

An amazing true story about persistence and ingenuity.
Revisado: 01-01-20
If you want to understand how law enforcement has been solving so many cold cases over the last few years using familial DNA then read this book. This case started it all and the story is fascinating. This one will keep you listening every chance you get. Really well done and very detailed, but not boring or complicated. A great balance of science and story telling. I loved it!

Excellent book if you like fantasy this is the start of a very interesting series
Revisado: 01-25-19
I started listening to this book because of Brandon Sanderson. I have listen to a couple of his Siri is in really liked the way he wrote. I saw his mist Born series and wanted to start at, but after reading some reviews I realized that series actually started from this series by Robert Jordan. Apparently Mr. Jordan wrote many books in the series and then passed away before he was able to finish it. Brandon Sanderson took up the series and finished it for him.
So my expectations of this book were medium high but not spectacular as I have come to think of Brandon Sanderson as the King of all fantasy writing. I am happy to say I was not disappointed in this book and in fact find Mr. Jordans style extremely well written and interesting. Keep foreshadows well the characters are well developed, to the point that it’s a little slow in the beginning but with a series of books this large and this in depth there must be some slow character building in the beginning. I like his use of similar religions and myths that intertwined themselves in the book. It allows you to tie real world myths and religions into the book and I think that brings you closer to the characters.
Overall a very good first series book I look forward to the second and third and fourth… on into Brandon Sanderson‘s series.
The performance was outstanding mostly done by the mail reader with some very small parts by the female reader. It was very well acted expressions in the voice and intonations was excellent I thoroughly enjoyed his interpretation of the book.

Historia
In February 1990, Oregon State Police arrested John Sosnovke and Laverne Pavlinac for the vicious rape and murder of Taunja Bennet. Pavlinac had come forth and confessed, implicating her boyfriend and producing physical evidence that linked them to the crime. Authorities closed the case. There was just one problem. They had the wrong people. And the real killer wasn't about to let anyone take credit for his kill.

Very interesting perspective, well written
Revisado: 01-02-19
I really enjoyed the first person perspective that was not from the "first person". The author was not the killer, but wrote the book as if he is the killer. He does switch back and forth between first and third and that can be a little confusing at times, but for the most part, it is easy to follow. The book seems well researched and very in depth about a psychotic killer who has all the traits of a classic narcissistic serial killer and he is good at it for many years. A good read if you like true crime.

Great Story Involving Battle Angels
Revisado: 07-08-17
I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the story, I thought the character development was really good. It took me a little while to understand where the story was going, because it starts with two different story lines that come together after a while. The merging of the story lines didn't feel forced and I liked the way the characters interacted together.
I like biblical fiction and I did not know this book was in that genre. I was pleasently surprised when a legion on warrior angels come to help two humans save the planet from demons. The author quotes scripture and seems to have done his research when it comes to the different books of the Bible.
In the first line I wrote I said "part" of the book because the author randomly cut the book somewhere in the first third or so, I assume so he could make more money selling the second and third parts of the "trilogy". The problem is that it didn't end where it should have, it was right in the middle of the story. I don't have a problem with authors writing actual trilogy's to increase their profits, but when a book is only five hours long and the second part is also five hours, I am not apt to purchase the second part, but that is just me. I really liked the story and I may still purchase the second one.
This book was gifted to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Very slow, I couldn't get involved with the charac
Revisado: 03-10-17
This was one of those books for me that I just could not get interested in. I tried several times and made it through most of the book, but it never peaked my interest. Sci-Fi is not my typical genre, although I like it, so maybe that explains why I didn't like it as much as the other reviews. I got confused about the locations and the characters a lot and never did figure out the overall plot.

Great Western Setting with an Interesting Plot
Revisado: 03-10-17
What did you like best about this story?
I really liked the main Character Moses. He is one of these guys that you love to hate, but really respect his morals and his faithfulness to the law.
Have you listened to any of Joseph Durika’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I would listen to another, he is very good.
Any additional comments?
The narration was very good, he really gets the western genre. The book is full of heartache in the old west. These people led hard lives and I think the author portrays that very well.

Love this trilogy!
Revisado: 12-22-16
I was luck enough to stumble across this series, I know... how have I not heard of Brandon Sanderson? I live under a rock apparently. Anyway the Calamity series is awesome, I can't recommend it enough. The narration is excellent and keeps you glued to your listening device for hours at a time, I found myself doing more chores just so I could plug in my headphones. I am now moving on to some of his other stories.
