Historia
Many famed music producers are known for a particular sound that has its day. Rick Rubin is known for something else: creating a space where artists of all different genres and traditions can home in on who they really are and what they really offer. He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations in order to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Over the years, he has learned that being an artist isn’t about your specific output, it’s about your relationship to the world.

Revisado: 01-19-23
Saw Rick on 60 Minutes interviewed by Anderson Cooper and was impressed with his approach to music and collaboration. His book broke down how if artists create for reasons other than art, it can interfere with true talent and meaning. As a non-creative, his words spill out to show any reader how to unlock hidden power and talent.

Pass.

Quick burst of knowledge with little value except for "Just think". The problem is you have to have confidence that you know how. Sure you can dig a hole with a shovel. However, if you owned a backhoe, you still need a operations manual or some training. Pass this as you scroll down the list.

Truly An American Story
Revisado: 11-16-22
Having served in a Reserve status in the Navy, it was easy to relate to this subject and, therefore, the entire book. No pain, no gain. To date, this is the best example of leadership and patriotism I've ever had the privilege of listening to. Honest, straightforward, and detailed on how, by doing the job to perfection, you can achieve the objective even if when things go wrong. Everyone who thinks it's easy being a Navy Seal needs to read this. The biggest takeaway - work to help the others who didn't make it out in one piece or who suffer with PTSD.

Read The Last Chapter First.
Revisado: 09-23-22
Fast moving book that had little value in why I had to take his word on one more thing. Knowing his Situation growing up first - would have helped me value his challenges dealing with addiction in the family.
As written he's almost going to far in one more thing and starting to validate bad behavior as a requirement for becoming a better person and future leader.
Leadership is about making difficult decisions and growing future leadership not getting past the bad days with one more positive.
Too many others end up doing the work following his management style while he takes one more Victor Lap in his writings.

Historia
Survey after survey confirms how the success of businesses has become increasingly dependent on the ability and skills of their staff. And because talented workers are in short supply the hunt for people of unusual ability will continue in earnest. Hiring such people is the relatively easy part; keeping them engaged so that they don't move on and getting the best out of them while they are with you is what really matters.

Had to turn up the speed to 1.5 because it was slow.......in performance. Key trends and insights into Capitalism were found in the lectures and history of money was exceptional. Lots of facts and spot on for capturing the Great Recession economic recovery and how Americans, yet again failed to keep greed from entering the world of money and investment.
