Historia
The United States is in the grip of a crisis of bad history. Distortions of the past promoted in the conservative media have led large numbers of Americans to believe in fictions over facts, making constructive dialogue impossible and imperiling our democracy. In Myth America, Kevin M. Kruse and Julian E. Zelizer have assembled an all-star team of fellow historians to push back against this misinformation.

Outstanding Literary Work - with Uninspired Audio
Revisado: 04-08-23
Sometimes the person reading didn't seem to understand what they were reading, as if this was their first read and they were on autopilot. This made it tough to follow at times. Otherwise, this is an impressive, iff disturbing, history lesson which all serious Americans should consume.

Historia
Heather McGhee’s specialty is the American economy—and the mystery of why it so often fails the American public. From the financial crisis of 2008 to rising student debt to collapsing public infrastructure, she found a root problem: racism in our politics and policymaking. But not just in the most obvious indignities for people of color. Racism has costs for white people, too. It is the common denominator of our most vexing public problems, the core dysfunction of our democracy and constitutive of the spiritual and moral crises that grip us all.

Truly should be ready by every American
Revisado: 12-23-22
America's history is painful and troubling, but because it has been whitewashed we have not learned the lessons collectively of the past. instead of banning books and blocking out the truth, this book should become part of every American household and honestly other nations citizens would benefit from learning these lessons.

Historia
Great journeys often start with a single question. For D. K. Evans, a newly married professional in the Christian-dominated South, that question was, “Why Do I Believe in God?” That simple query led him on a years-long search to better understand the nature of religion and faith, particularly as it applies to the Black community. Evans took inspiration from John Henrik Clarke, Yosef-Ben Jochannan, Hubert Harrison, and John G. Jackson, champions of a rich Black tradition of challenging religious orthodoxy, and also from many others in his own community who had similarly come to question their core religious beliefs.

I'm sure it's a better read than listen
Revisado: 03-16-19
I had to listen a few times because the performance was pretty bad. great book though with a few strong points articulated so effortlessly that they might go underappreciated. Compares well some of the heavyweights in the atheist authorship business and with a special perspective.

Historia
Discover magazine recently called Richard Dawkins "Darwin's Rottweiler" for his fierce and effective defense of evolution. Prospect magazine voted him among the top three public intellectuals in the world (along with Umberto Eco and Noam Chomsky). Now Dawkins turns his considerable intellect on religion, denouncing its faulty logic and the suffering it causes.

This book could have been great..
Revisado: 05-06-15
If not for the bizarre attempt to defend pedophilia. Yes, there are some forms worse than others, and yes, religious indoctrination is in itself a horrible form of abuse, but to actually excuse the sexualization and molestation of children for any reason is absurd and grotesque.
