I loved rent
Revisado: 03-10-25
I truly wish I wasn't a small child when rent was on broadway. It wasn't until I was in high school, and of course I couldn't see any of the original cast perform when I was old enough to go in high school. I hope Anthony writes again as to how he deals with the loss of his mother. I appreciated the pain you heard in his voice when describing some of the more painful details.
I wish it was a little longer, it seemed like his mother passed and all of a sudden it's 2005 and he's shooting rent the movie. I wish he went into greater depth about that or perhaps delayed the release of this book to incorporate that success as well.
His experience and reverence for Jonathan Larson cannot be understated, he had a real friend in Anthony.

It was a rare and stunning reversal: after the judges at the 2024 Paris Olympics determined that Jordan had rightfully scored third place for her performance—following a successful challenge by her coach—she earned the bronze medal. Later, Jordan’s euphoria turned to devastation when the Court of Arbitration for Sport stripped her of that medal based on nothing but semantics. Jordan called the ruling, “One of the most challenging moments of my career. Believe me when I say I have had many.”

Jordan ISSS that girl!!!
Revisado: 03-09-25
Jordan speaks her truth. I wish she dropped more names and talked about the embezzlement charges her mom faced and how that affected her. It's ok though. Voice acting was 💯💯
I loved hearing about her relationship with Simone and the other golden girls during the 2024 Olympics. I am more than certain there will be a part 2 where she discusses what happens in the final years of her collegiate career and if she returns to the Olympics in 2028. She still won bronze in my eyes idc what the Romanians say. ❤️

Historia
This book is about pleasure. It’s also about pain. Most important, it’s about how to find the delicate balance between the two, and why now more than ever finding balance is essential. We’re living in a time of unprecedented access to high-reward, high-dopamine stimuli: drugs, food, news, gambling, shopping, gaming, texting, sexting, Facebooking, Instagramming, YouTubing, tweeting....

It’s OK to be angry about capitalism. Reflecting on our turbulent times, Senator Bernie Sanders takes on the billionaire class and speaks blunt truths about our country’s failure to address the destructive nature of a system that is fueled by uncontrolled greed and rigidly committed to prioritizing corporate profits over the needs of ordinary Americans.

We did Bernie so wrong 🙃
Revisado: 02-23-25
Sadly, Bernie didn't tell me anything I didn't already know aside from him suffering a heart attack in early 2020. It's a little slow and repetitive but it's ok. Bernie gives me hope we can preserve our democracy.

Revisado: 02-15-25
I'm not into this genre too much but I love her take and the depth of each character. Im not gonna lie, the self sabotaging of our girl dr JoJo was a little irritating but I was still invested in her growth as a character and how the plot played out. The voice actors are superb!!! I can't wait for Dr. obuobi 👌

A Deep dive into the last few years of Yankee baseball
Revisado: 08-15-24
This book plus jeter's documentary make me think he is not the guy we all believed he was. With that in mind, martino shed a lot of light on things we were not privy to otherwise. At least I wasn't. Finally we find out what the four fingers meant when the yanks got on base!!! Finally!! Relieving the judge free agency fiasco wasn't fun though I have to say. If you love the Yankees this is a great listen, especially because it is a third party perspective. The pronunciation of Carlos Rodons name is annoying but you can get passed that.

Long and drawn out
Revisado: 08-12-24
First off, if you are sensitive to domestic violence and child abuse this is not something you should be listening to. This book could've been trimmed down, way too much backstory. Not enough into the actual arrest, the criminal aspect of this absolutely waste of human life. I don't understand how no one reported the abuse in this case? Narration was great.

In this book Jaycee Dugard describes the life she never thought she would live to see: from her first sight of her mother to her first time meeting her grownup sister, her first trip to the dentist to her daughters' first day of school, her first taste of champagne to her first hangover, her first time behind the wheel to her first speeding ticket, and her first dance at a friend's wedding to her first thoughts about the possibility of a future relationship.

A continuation of the previous book
Revisado: 08-11-24
There are some pieces that are repeated from her previous book. Jaycee is amazing and I do appreciate her being so open about her life and how it's progressing. I mainly bought to support the author but there isn't too much info in here that goes deeper than her first book. I would love to hear more about her adjustment to like the tedious parts of adult life. She does seem a little stunted still which isn't her fault. She goes into a lot of detail about things that are really not that important. I'm nots sure who edited this book but like... it was a little redundant. This isn't personal against Jaycee just the book itself. She is an amazing person from what I know that she's shared especially with her mindset work that she has done to get her to the point that she is in.

"In the summer of 1991 I was a normal kid. I did normal things. I had friends and a mother who loved me. I was just like you. Until the day my life was stolen. For eighteen years I was a prisoner. I was an object for someone to use and abuse. For eighteen years I was not allowed to speak my own name. I became a mother and was forced to be a sister. For eighteen years I survived an impossible situation. On August 26, 2009, I took my name back. My name is Jaycee Lee Dugard. I dont think of myself as a victim. I survived...."

Amazing
Revisado: 08-07-24
This is a beautiful story of resilience. Jaycee is brave and strong and did not waver once, she named her captors multiple times and I admire the strength it takes to do so. I can not imagine this ordeal, but Jaycee expresses herself beautifully. I loved that she read this aloud as only she could, for those critiquing her performance... her education ended in the fifth grade. Let's be kind and compassionate to a brave soul for being able to read aloud and relive this tragedy. Some other memoirists are unable to read their own story. The courage and strength is insurmountable. Her clarity shows through and sadly I had a very clear picture of the torture and hell Jaycee endured.
