Historia
A stunningly beautiful young woman is found strangled in London's Mudchute Park, her clothing carefully arranged to preserve her modesty. It wasn’t until near the end that I came to appreciate the two stories in this book. Well done. This is a great series.

Historia
Often compared to both Ruth Rendell and P.D. James, Deborah Crombie is internationally acclaimed for her deftly written mysteries that combine suspense, with lyrical prose. Sharply etched characters further enrich this story of tangled relationships and dark secrets. Twelve years after their divorce, Scotland Yard Superintendent Duncan Kincaid receives a phone call from his ex-wife Victoria asking for his help.

My favorite so far
Revisado: 10-19-24
It took me awhile to get into this book. Very well written and the introduction of a female voice although I did not like it at first was over all ok. The narrator did a great job on Jemma’s voice but I didn’t care for her Duncan portrayal. Just sounded like a stick in the mud. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Loved the WSM Squad
Revisado: 09-25-24
After I got to chapter 4 I realized I had no idea what was going on so I started over - glad I did. Witty and fun. Too many characters but overall manageable. I don’t want to compare this to The Thursday Murder Club (my all time favorite series) but rather let this new series build a life of its own. I’ll listen to WSM again when the next book comes out. Kinda dragged a little in the middle but kept my interest. Great narration!!

Historia
It’s not every day that you’re summoned to the Italian countryside on business, so when archaeologist Angelo Morelli asks for Ruth Galloway’s help identifying bones found in the tiny hilltop town of Fontana Liri, she jumps at the chance to go, bringing her daughter along with her for a working vacation. Upon arriving, she begins to hear murmurs of Fontana Liri’s strong resistance movement during World War II and senses the townspeople are dancing around a deeply buried secret. But how could that be connected to the ancient remains she’s been studying?

Love this series
Revisado: 05-30-24
Really have enjoyed the series. Getting to be a little too much romance and drama - guess you can only have so much Murder Mystery in a small town - or at least this one. Good story, not my favorite. Great characters. Looking forward to listening to the next book.

Historia
In a Sussex town on the south coast of England, a widely disliked art teacher at a posh private girls' school disappears without explanation. None of her students miss her boring lessons, especially since her replacement is a devilishly hunky male teacher with a fancy car. But then her name shows up on a police missing persons list. What happened to Miss Gibbon, and why does no one seem to care?

Historia
Forensic archaeologist Ruth Galloway has excavated a body from the grounds of Norwich Castle, a forbidding edifice that was once a prison. She believes the body may be that of infamous Victorian murderess Jemima Green. Called Mother Hook for her claw-like hand, Jemima was hanged in 1867 for the murder of five children in her care. DCI Harry Nelson has no time for long-dead killers. Immersed in the case of three infants found dead, one after the other, in their King’s Lynn home, he’s convinced that a family member is responsible, though others on his team think differently.

Glad I stuck with it
Revisado: 09-04-23
I almost gave up during the first half but am glad I stuck with it. Adjusting to the new narrator has been challenging. There are just some voices I can’t relate to - Nelson and Cathbad. The others are ok. Not sure anyone can do better with Kate - I love that little girl but her loud screechy voice is ear piercing. The second half of the book was excellent and what started out to be my least favorite became one of my favorites in the series so far. Great series.

I finished it
Revisado: 08-22-23
… I was glad when it was done. I’ve just recently heard of Josephine Tey and particularly enjoyed Brett Farrar. I’ve read one other Alan Grant book which I liked but this one wasn’t her best work. I didn’t care for the narrator. She was either screeching or I couldn’t tell who was talking. I just downloaded a collection of JTs works and hoping I enjoy them.

My Favorite so far!!
Revisado: 08-17-23
I really enjoy this series. Very disappointed in the change of narrator even if it’s only 3 books. Clare Corbett did a decent job but it’s a dramatic change from Jane McDowell. I felt like the characters were all new, not the ones I had become familiar with. The story was very good and inspite of Ruth complaining about her weight the story moved along at a great pace and held my interest. Just enough humor too. On another note I’m distraught that the first 4 books are no longer available on audible!!! I like going back and listening again and now it’s not an option. I can’t even find them at my library. What’s the story here??
