Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

Huge editing errors in two places. i may need to go to the library to read through the book top figure out what it should have said. I would have given this book a much higher rating but for two problems the male voice actor Tim and parts of the story. I'm sorry but Tim has little dimension to his voice. I found it very hard to follow him because each voice he food mostly signed the same with some distinction between male and female. As for the story it felt as if parts of it got away from Jennifer as can happen when you want to go one direction but the story wants to go another. At least everyone could breathe a little better without breathes constantly catching, snagging, or going nowhere. However everyone had listening problems as things that they were told on purse on the back of their mind not revealing what they should have known.

Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

Great Performance
Revisado: 10-09-24
There was more porn than story. I wasn't prepared. The story developed nicely. But by GODS today can someone teach Penelophie how to breathe? I'm not sure how she's still alive because on every other page her breath caught, hitched, got trapped, or went nowhere. Not sure how much of it i can take if it continues.

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

great story. it didn't have me guessing as I'd pretty much figured most of it out as I went. However the one shock I did have is that some how Ms. Jennifer tricked me into reading a gods damned vampire story :)

Surprising Amount of Errors
Revisado: 06-27-24
In this book much like it's predecessors the action is non stop and almost at a nauseating predictability. ie: if they think the worst turn the page and guess what... the worst is happening. The narrator made frequent mistakes that were not caught by who ever edited the recording, so no your device is messing up you heard double got a reason. At one point in time it sounded as if he had a cold because all of the characters sounded congested. All in all though I enjoy the way Jack Campbell tells a story. I did accidentally listen to the books about her daughter firsthand good thing because I swear all Jack Campbell did was change the names and locations for that story. wink wink

Historia
The world of Dematr had been locked unchanging for centuries by the Great Guilds, most people living in a world of oil lamps, crossbows, and horse cavalry, the Mechanics reserving to themselves the technology for steam locomotives, rifles, and far-talkers while the Mages treated all others as if they were nothing - until Master Mechanic Mari, dragon slayer and pirate queen, and Master of Mages Alain raised the army of the new day to free their world.

Historia
The first book of best-selling sci-fi author Jack Campbell’s new series Beyond the Frontier returns to find Captain John “Black Jack" Geary, the hero of the Lost Fleet series, awoken from cryogenic sleep to take command of the fleet. Geary’s legendary exploits have earned him the adoration of the people—and the enmity of politicians convinced that a living hero can be a very inconvenient thing.

LESS STORY, SAME DETAILS
Revisado: 05-23-23
I've enjoyed Campbell's books from the Lost Fleet and its prequel "The Genesis Fleet" introducing John Geary's ancestor. However Dreadnought might be the beginning of the end of my enjoyment. I need Mr. Campbell to download a thesaurus so characters can stop smiling sardonically, or wryly. My biggest concern is why in the heck can't Geary get a hold of his flipping bodily functions? He's always holding a breathe he didn't know he was holding, hearing someone say something that he didn't realize came from his own mouth, or quickly interrupting his speech when his mouth catches up with his brain. my biggest let down is Dreadnought introduced a ton of stories but didn't bring a single one to completion. This book is the first in a series, there's no need to leave so many open plots. For "ancestors" sake you'd think the one that would have been resolved is the story of Jane Geary as Captain of Dreadnought for which the book is so named. Lastly the repetition forced me to pause the book at times to prevent my own "familiar headache". I mean I get it sometimes it is necessary to help those that didn't read the last books. But that's what prologues are for. Mind you I say all of this with a mocking, sarcastic, ironic, satirical smile, all of which are synonyms for sardonic.

Historia
Thawed out after a century of cryogenic sleep, Captain John “Black Jack” Geary has led the Alliance fleet through Syndicate Worlds space, thwarting the enemy at every turn—even within his own ranks—during the long journey home. Alliance prisoners of war are being held at a labor camp in the Heradao Star System, which also happens to be the location of the majority of the surviving Syndic warships. Determined not to leave any of his people behind, Black Jack Geary orders the fleet to strike hard and fast to rescue the POWs with minimal Alliance losses.

Good, but...
Revisado: 10-10-22
Ultimately satisfied with the continuation of the lost fleet. I hated the first chapter of just narrative between Dijonay and Geery. Lots of battle descriptions in this. Also voice changes for Dijonay and Rheone, very slight though. And start pronunciation changes. My military mind couldn't handle that.

Historia
Earth is no longer the center of the universe. After the invention of the faster-than-light jump drive, humanity is rapidly establishing new colonies. But the vast distances of space mean that the old order of protection and interstellar law offered by Earth has ceased to exist. When a nearby world attacks, the new colony of Glenlyon turns to Robert Geary, a young former junior fleet officer, and Mele Darcy, a onetime enlisted marine.

Great Story
Revisado: 08-11-22
Loved it. As a busy mother of little ones picking up a book is hard. I started listening to this book on my drive to work one day. I was so drawn in that by the time I listened in the way home and pulled in the drive way, I didn't want to go inside. I put the kids to bed about 30 minutes earlier and had to finish the whole book. Though cereal was for dinner, it was so worth it. Can't wait for book two.
