Fabulous! Simply Fabulous!!!
Revisado: 04-25-25
This is epic military science fiction at its best. It is similar to Star Wars, but an order of magnitude better.

Great stories from a great author
- De David Warner en 02-05-23
Not worth the time
Revisado: 10-01-23
There is very little substance to these stories. A good short story should make you think hard about a difficult issue or reveal an important truth or immerse you in a new universe of imagination.
These stories do none of these things. They are little more than improvised bedtime stories for a five year old.
There is also very little science fiction in these stories and it is rarely scientifically accurate.
The writing is competent but not great.

Historia
Jordan McKell has a problem with authority. Unfortunately for him, the iron-fisted authority of the powerful Patthaaunutth controls virtually every aspect of galactic shipping. In order to survive, Jordan ekes out a living dabbling in interstellar smuggling for outlaw concerns that represent the last vestiges of free trade in the galaxy. So when Jordan and his partner, Ixil - an alien with two ferret-like "outhunters" linked to his neural system - are hired by a mysterious gentleman to fly a ship and its special cargo to Earth, they jump at the job.

Historia
As the relentless approach of a truly gargantuan mothership sparks chaos on Earth, many believe the end times are here. The unknown beings are more technologically advanced than humanity can even comprehend, let alone match. For the first time since Dan McCarthy's initial contact with aliens a full 16 years earlier, the whole world is united against an existential threat. But while billions understandably cower in fear, a few stand defiant. A showdown is coming. And be it on Earth or in space, the McCarthys will be there.

Great ending to good series
Revisado: 04-27-23
Books 7-9 of the Not Alone series are good but book 9 is great.
My main complaint for books 7 and 8 is that they spend too much time reminding the reader about events in previous books. It becomes tedious at times, and it is insulting to the reader. Some reminding is needed, but it would be much better to tease the readers memory. We need less retelling and we need more revelations about the backstory that put the backstory in a new light.
This book does much less retelling and provides enough new material and action to be a great finale to the series.

Historia
This fundamental historical question and its complex answer speak penetratingly to the spiritual impulses, concerns, and beliefs that have played a seminal role in our world, even as they reveal the foundation of history’s most global religious movement, and fresh insights into the Western world's single most influential human being. Tackling all of these matters and more, Great Courses favorite Professor Ehrman returns with the unprecedented historical inquiry of How Jesus Became God.

Good historical summary with an athiest bias
Revisado: 11-05-22
Other than Dr. Ehrman's inaccurate portrayal of Jesus as an itinerate preacher killed for crimes against the state, he gives a good overview of the evolution of Christian understanding of Jesus Christ as a triune God.
None of the gospels portray Jesus as an itinerate preacher killed for crimes against the state. The earliest gospel of Mark repeatedly declares Jesus as YHWH as do the other gospels. Dr. Ehrman conveniently ignores their many statements that Jesus is YHWH. The vast majority of Christians from the earliest days believed Jesus to be God.
This lecture series is valuable as a concise summary of the many varying and evolving views of how Christians viewed Jesus as God. The trinitarian view is a late view that was established only because of the power of Rome.

Historia
Han Solo should be basking in his moment of glory. After all, the cocky smuggler and captain of the Millennium Falcon just played a key role in the daring raid that destroyed the Death Star and landed the first serious blow to the Empire in its war against the Rebel Alliance. But after losing the reward his heroics earned him, Han's got nothing to celebrate. Especially since he's deep in debt to the ruthless crime lord Jabba the Hutt. There's a bounty on Han's head - and if he can't cough up the credits, he'll surely pay with his hide. The only thing that can save him is a king's ransom. Or maybe a gangster's fortune?

Slow SciFi Horror
Revisado: 03-26-22
I recommend skipping this book. Only the last few chapters are engaging. The characters are not that likable or interesting. The language is filled with profanity.
The only reason I finished the book is the good performance by Ray Porter.

Another fun and entertaining Black Ocean series!
Revisado: 12-27-21
Mikael Naramore is a fantastic narrator. Morin and Larkin are great fantasy authors I highly recommend this series!
My only minor complaint is that there are a significant number of chapters that slow down the movement of the story too much. But this is a minor point.
If you like a mixture of science and magic, you will love this series!
