I feel like this story line has potential. I was SNAGGED very early in this story and was excited to listen to it in 1 day.

about halfway through I realized I was becoming more and more turned OFF by the authors style. I feel like a child wrote this...pretending to be an adult who learns about sex through abusive porn films? every single moment of passion in this book reflects a abusive porn film. it's FILTHY... how on earth can I respect these characters when every other word is "F**k" and "P***y"? these characters speak so well and intelligent to boot....then you get porn star talk!

I'm all for a good passionate scene! steamy and hot...no problem!...but what woman wants her soulmate to intentionally choke her and punish with sex? to dominate their women intentionally trying to scare or "ruin" her? to force a woman to "take" him in the mouth DOWN A THROAT while gagging, tear streaming, choking and he WONT LET HER STOP?! WTF?!

welcome to the 21st century... women should be cautious what content subconsciously manipulates them to crave demoralizing sexual activities. YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS GARBAGE... check out Christian Feehan's Carpathian series or Karen Marie Mooning's highlander series for a BETTER experience with STRONGER more attractive men who ACT LIKE MEN SHOULD without sacrificing any of the GOOD stuff ;)

crave a BETTER man to read about...there are too many of these filthy, disgusting, disrespectful men in the world. I won't DATE them...nor will I waste my time READING about them and neither should YOU.

it's with a sad heart I leave this story with 6 hours left of the book. It's a shame but I won't allow this to condition me to CRAVE men like this.

I truly love this series. takes me around to hoe detailed and lovely the author writes about the world these characters in. I love this story and want to highlight that Stephen Bonnet gets some just rewards for his crime against brie!

OG Feehan Fan Review

Ok everyone... I know the last few Feehan "Dark" books were like brick walls, but I saw a little light. the story did flow better than her recent ones.

I'm just struggling because I feel like she is treating her fans like we are idiots. most of her writing is now all about the cliché recap of other couples story lines and her fight scenes are not making sense anymore. I found myself getting "less distracted " this time around which is good!

another problem is that life lifemate rules are changing constantly! and seem to only change to fit a story line. you can't have people trained on specific species rules and then change it every book.

ok so mages are gone but now we have demons? can't speak about the devil and not bring God in. author used to know this...must be as lost as her writing now.

I wish I could stop buying her titles...I'm only purchasing because I love the early parts of this series and holding hope it won't make me have regrets after purchasing.

It's not great...but not bad

don't know what is rubbing me so wrong about this series. Almost like these stories are very cookie cutter. Safe sex, women's rights, and awareness to real issues is GREAT. but it seemed like it was marketed solely to that.

the characters were eh.. the cocky arrogant sweetheart that mimics John Wayne is hard to listen too after about half in.

found myself talking out loud asking Zoey what on earth is she drooling for?? he's not that funny or creative?? and sorry but you let him compromise the integrity of your choice by not allowing you time to think or talk? just a "my way or the highway " guy? psht!

Love isn't conditional...think that's why this author and series rub me wrong. ethics are slightly askew.

I don't know if it's because phil and Natalie narrated or if I stumbled on a writer that lines up with feehan and mooning's style but WOW!

finally found a new series that is #1 realistic and #2 respectfully done to treat women in a respectful light. I will read more!

Epic Cliffhangers SUCK!!

yea... wouldn't waste time. whole book is monotone and flippant. Carbon Copy of the movie "6th Sense" from the "I see dead people" down to the bike accident scene where the dead biker stands next to the car and the kid crys to his mom. please... mixing drug lords in with no back story on them is also just frustrating.

story has potential...just wish it wasn't an idea that someone else had 1st 😔

ABUSIVE COWBOYS & Insecure Women

just awful. I'm sorry but I've read over 10 titles of hers and there is the EXACT SAME PLOT AND CHARACTER IN HER BOOKS.

read here for spoilers in EVERY book:

1. insecure FBI, CIA, cowboy, ranch hand or sherriff has hard exterior and between 35 and 40 yrs of age. interested in the barley legal woman testing what 21 is.

2. hates women, relationships, marriage and hides behind tough guy jokes and pride. constantly accusing women of using them to get money. but secretly loves this 1 woman in their station or place of business. (ever hear not dipping the oen in company inc.?) apparently the author hasn't!

3. for some reason...they all play xbox and wwc. they are antisocial and very secretive. there is an immature childish quality about these men that is not believable with the story. like... ok you are a bad ass dangerous man ... but u play video games for 8 hours straight and expect me to take u seriously... um...ok...

4. women are damaged goods.beaten or scarred emotionally or physically who come from socially awkward pasts that all have some for of rape, abuse or torture crippling them into nothingness . oh and did I mention.. they are all wealthy in their own rights!

5. sex in these books are the biggest JOKE of all. 1st of all...every girl is just that...a young girl with a perfectly intact hymen and SPOILER ALERT!! THEY ALL GET PREGNANT 1ST TIME! I know.... shocking! men who cant restrain their urges and plow through even when they know they shouldn't are called RAPISTS. no means no! period! and boinking some girl who could be your daughters age is messed up. seriously...no wonder phil gigante got arrested for proposing sex to minors! look at the stuff he is forced to read?!

6. Male lead degrades and verbally beats down the girl claiming its HER fault for making him crazy and horny and then suddenly cant control himself and seduces the girl. confuses her to NO END and gets off only to put her down again and downplay what they shared?! are you freaking kidding me?! oh and don't forget that after getting her teeth kicked in loving the impossible man...he comes back after months and finds her pregnant and suddenly he's all better and LOVES her desperatly... and what does the female do you ask? STARES AT HIM WITH AWE AND BLINDLY FORGIVES AND BELEIVES HE LOVES YOU.

this has to stop! women cant read this and think it's the real world. it's not. author obviously loved a man 10 years older than her and treated her ehh..and she keeps painting same picture. didn't know so many delicate virgins who go through severe physical trauma had intact hymens! dude I lost mine when I was 10 riding my bike! stop insulting us and painting bad pictures for young women reading this nonsense.

LADIES PAY ATTENTION... if a man loves you...there wouldn't be even a death sentence to stop him from being by your side. dont fall for the example of men in these series. it's not realistic and caters to abusing women like sport. find better fantasy worlds that make YOU feel like the best part of you. those are influential books that plant the right seeds for romantic happiness. set your foundation correctly for non abusive relationships.

so .... narrated by Phil G. for crying out loud. every carpathian needs that voice! anyways... wasn't so thrilled with book when I read it after release date. but with phil reading it.... yeehaw!

1st time a narration changed my mind on a book. worth the purchase through audible... don't waste your time with the physical book. this is MUCH BETTER.
