Moving up in the world
Revisado: 08-05-24
I really liked the pacing in this book. Book 2 felt a bit slow, but book 3 did so much right. It picked up the pace, followed through on book 2’s promise to not have our vampire MC moralize over killing, and, most importantly, had more fighting and leveling up!
I look forward to continuing this series.

Historia
Earth as Riven knew it has merged with Zazir and Elhisterii to form the post-apocalyptic creation of the Elysium known as Panu. Here, errant goblins and vulnerable elves battle it out, ungodly monsters spawn like crazy, suicide zombies run wild, and the streets are strewn with human remains. On a mission to find his sister, Allie—out there somewhere battling her own demons—Riven quickly learns that every time he kills his bloodlust only increases, bringing him ever closer to becoming a full-blown harbinger of doom. But maybe a vampiric hero is just what this mad new world needs.

What an ending
Revisado: 04-22-24
Loving the series so far. This entry tones down the grim dark a bit, but that isn’t a complaint. Overall this story feels like a set up to an excellent ending. A great way to introduce us to Panu, but I’m hoping the third book feels a bit more like the first.

Alden Bramblethorn’s job at The Whispering Willow is wearing on him. But it’s not just that. His family is broken, and he has no living relatives. Lonely, he seeks answers from the GoldenRoot Ancestral Repository. It doesn’t take long for him to strike gold. There, he finds an ancient letter with a deed to Starshine Farm—a chance to leave everything behind, make real connections, and start over. And, besides, he’s a [Level 4] Chloromancer. Plants love him. Farming can’t be that difficult. Right?

Better the longer you read
Revisado: 03-29-24
Starts off slow, but speeds up as you go. It is a decent story that wears its influences proudly. Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, and Pokémon were the most apparent to me. I'd recommend it to someone looking for something related to their favorite farming games, but I would preface my recommendation with the fact that the characters are generally very emotionally immature.
Chris Roust's narration unfortunately doesn't do anything to elevate the experience and he pauses unnaturally long between many of the lines. I would encourage the narrator to throw in a bit more personality.

You guys know this isn’t a stand alone, right?
Revisado: 11-07-23
Loved the story and it was a thrill to hear the Mighty Nien again. I find it very amusing to see so many reviews that genuinely have no clue what’s going on. You guys know there’s like a 500+ hour DnD campaign that these characters are from.

An Unexpected Reprieve
Revisado: 05-04-23
The blurb was definitely a bit deceiving. Vague spoiler: this isn’t some bombastic book long climax to the Twilight Harbor events.
I think so long as you’re not expecting what the description seems to be promising the book is good. It takes a small step back and is a good break in tone. I feel that stories like this require some breaks because events have to take place over years and eventually decades.
