One of my favorites
Revisado: 05-20-23
This series is my go to when I'm in a reading slump. Having it on audio is a bonus.
While the narrator did a good job there were a few things that pulled me out of the experience. One was the accents. It was still hard to get used to even half way through the book. Another was the way Cyno spoke. It was very stilted and halting but I am hoping she was just conveying that Cyno didn't speak Glish very well and that it will change. The final thing, and this is just me, but the pronunciation of Cyno's name drove me crazy. I have always pronounced it Sino so I never got used to the narrator saying his name.
While those things are slightly bothersome I love the story itself and will definitely buy the whole series on audio.
EDIT - I have since listened to this book multiple times and found that I actually like the accents and the pronunciation of Cyno doesn't bother me now. I am (not so patiently) waiting for the rest of the series now.

Historia
Gabriel Coleman has always known he has distant relatives, but since his father's funeral, he’s never heard a word from them. However, Academy rules are clear: finding your family and putting them forward to the Academy to be vetted for adoption is a requirement of becoming a full-fledged member. If Gabriel doesn't complete the task, he'll be left behind. Again.

Narrator forgets what characters sound like
Revisado: 12-07-22
I love the story and will continue to read the books but I will not be buying the audio books any longer. For some reason Ms. Eaton has changed the voice of Sang and Gabriel. Perhaps she needs to listen to previous books.

Loved it
Revisado: 06-14-21
The narrator is great with the voices. You can tell which character is speaking without being told who it is. However, someone really needs to tell her it's LeBlanc not LeBlank. I cringe every time she says LeBlank.

I'm Lexie Delaney, and I'm a necromancer. Which means, I can see the dead, talk to them, affect them. Not as fun as it sounds. Especially since the Veil closed and the dead have been stuck here. Things in town are getting tense. School is starting, and I'm already tired of our plan to keep our relationships quiet. Bodies keep showing up and no one has a clue as to why.

I absolutely love this series. But I wish someone would tell her how to pronounce Evelyn. Every time she says the word I cringe a little bit.

Historia
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

Historia
My name is Alexis, though everyone calls me Lexie. I'm a necromancer. We're rare enough that I've never met another in my life, until Claire came home to tell me she found one. In New Orleans. Now, I am headed south with my best friends, staying in close quarters with five guys, four guys whom I have kissed, one who has been ignoring me for the last few weeks, one who keeps sneaking kisses, one who doesn't even remember it, and another...well, I don't know what he wants. Thank God for Miles. He's my one safe place in this disaster I've created.

My only complaint is the female narrator not pronouncing words and names correctly. It pulls me out of the story each time it happens.

I love Avery
Revisado: 08-15-18
The stars are for the books not the narrator. The books actually do have mysteries even though they are easily solved. The characters are great and even though some readers find Avery hard to take I love her.
The narration is another thing. With the first book there are several mispronounced words, Jake sounds somewhat like an old man, and I'm not really sure what the deal with Eliot is. There are pauses when he speaks so it is very slow.
However, by the third book it is much better. Eliot speaks like a normal person and Jake isn't old sounding.
