Historia
Martin Arrowsmith is fascinated by science and medicine. As a boy, he immerses himself in Gray’s Anatomy. In medical school, he soaks up knowledge from his mentor, a renowned bacteriologist. But soon he is urged to focus on politics and promotions rather than his research. Even as Martin progresses from doctor to public health official and noted pathologist, he still yearns to devote his time to pure science.

Meh
Revisado: 03-28-25
I wanted to like it because I love Sinclair. Lewis, but was not impressed by this character at all. I guess that's not really the author's fault. Because he did a great job at building up a character that I loved to be annoyed at. There was lots of interesting information about science, medicine and life in that time period. But Dr. Arrowsmith is a wet blanket. Lenora and Joyce could have both have done better.

I enjoyed this story very much it tricked me several times and I loved the two sided POV. It's fun when you can't hate the villain.

Historia
When a major Hollywood studio released Five Fingers of Death to thrill-seeking Times Square moviegoers on March 21, 1973, only a handful of Black and Asian American audience members knew the difference between an Iron Fist and an Eagle's Claw. That changed overnight as kung fu movies kicked off a craze that would earn millions at the box office, send TV ratings soaring, sell hundreds of thousands of video tapes, influence the birth of hip hop, reshape the style of action we see in movies today, and introduce America to some of the biggest non-White stars.

I think my favorite part was that I was born, write smack dab in the middle of the subject of this book. I remember so much of this happening, but had no idea what a pop culture phenomenon was happening all around me.

This audible started strong and ended with light and hope. The stories these families told of their ancestors lives in the history of the psychiatric treatment in Ireland were tragic and lonely. Revisado: 11-21-24
I started this book not really understanding what it was about. I thought I was going to learn about one side of the board when it was really about the other, but it helped me learn a lot about both sides. As a Hispanic female from families that have been in Texas since before it was the United States, I completely understood some of these stories. I believe you must understand where somebody's coming from before you write them off.

Historia
Like his earlier novel Golden Hill, Francis Spufford’s Cahokia Jazz inhabits a different version of America, now through the lens of a subtly altered 1920s—a fully imagined world filled with fog, cigarette smoke, dubious motives, danger, and dark deeds. In the main character of hard-boiled detective Joe Barrow, we have a hero of truly epic proportions, a troubled soul to fall in love with as you are swept along by a propulsive and brilliantly twisty plot.

I really can't decide if I liked this book or not. It had a really awesome premise, but I think there was a little bit lacking in the worrying. There was just a lot of information and it was hard to follow. It was hard for me to even explain the storyline. But I loved the characters!!!

I love all the new information I learned. and I appreciated that the author was non-biased towards the pioneers, Native Indians and Hispanic groups. It showed good and bad things done by all sides. Short and sweet, but made me want to check out some of the other books in the speed.
