Very good narration
Revisado: 08-25-21
Fast paced, lots of things going on, lots of action, but I just didn't really enjoy this, I didn’t enjoy the London part so much, the Africa part was much more interesting and engaging, even though I just couldn't get into Sam’s character, but at least he has a sense of humour, or any of the other characters as it so happens.
Written in first person Sam and his thoughts are your thoughts, which were plentiful. Sure the storyline was a little far fetched, but this is a novel, so it really doesn't matter.
The positive parts to the book was the Africa bit, at least once it got going, it was much more interesting, that is, of course if you can actually get that far, and the ending was ok.
The best part of this is the narrator, he has a very nice voice and does the comedy side of the book very well bringing it to life and that is the reason for the 3 stars rather than less. I might have given up with this book if it hadn't been for the narrator.
This book has earned 3 stars.

Good solid thriller
Revisado: 09-15-20
** spoiler alert ** The fourth in a long series featuring Nick Sullivan, in my opinion is not one of the best of those I have read so far, which are Fallout, The Third Wave and Sniper.
I was loving the Uganda part, even the gruesome parts of it, enjoyed the new addition of Tom, Nick’s brother but I didn’t enjoy so much the rest of the book. I am not saying is is bad, it has the same writing style, the same characters, with some new, which are part of this storyline, there is plenty of action, but I found Annalise to be a little annoying, too much nagging and just getting in the way, so if you can get over that bit the book is another good fast paced thiller with Nick getting up to al sorts of dangerous stuff in Uganda and London.

Historia
The Sufferings of a Young Woman is a compelling novel on forced marriage, which is a form of modern-day slavery. Still, millions of women are in forced marriages around the globe. This is one of those heartbreaking stories. This unforgettable novel explores powerfully how a long-awaited tour of a young British Asian woman turns into a forced marriage tragedy.

thoughtful subject

A sad and unforgetting story, I wasn't keen on the subject, or the writing style but these subjects are required to help people understand that still still goes on in a modern world. It was written in such a way that I did enjoy that explanations of the meaning of different words.

Historia
Flynn was one of the elite, a highly trained sniper in the British army who was proud of his skills and lived by a strict moral code. But even the best can crack when the stress becomes intolerable and now he’s on the rampage bearing a grudge and carrying an arsenal of stolen weapons. He believes that good soldiers are being killed because governments go to war over oil. In his twisted mind, anyone who drives a gas guzzling four by four is the enemy and deserves to die. As he carves a trail of terror and death across the country, the authorities are closing in.

Nick is back in this new book. This one starts off with a huge bang. very exciting start.
The book feels so much better written, it is much more complex and more exciting, mixing Nick’s personal and work life all in one. Some moments of emotional drama, excitement, a bit of everything.
I felt that this book improved on the other two I have listened to and reviewed, Fallout and The Third Wave with the writing and research being much better. Although I did find Analise to be a little annoying towards the end, but I did understand her point of view.
A very enjoyable fast paced thriller, looking forward to more of Nick Sullivan.

Historia
Being a personal shopper is a dark art, with few tangible rewards. Spread by word of mouth, her clients would never admit they needed her assistance. Not even if they were put under torture. Let us be honest, who would admit to being in need of a style consultant? It is like being an alcoholic: the first step is to admit you need help and acknowledge that that pair of leggings, now that you are in your mid-50s, do not suit you anymore. When you have recognized it, you are on the path to recovery, and GiGi's services will help you.

easy, feel good read
Revisado: 05-11-20
This is the continuation of The Retail Therapist. which I read and reviewed recently. Here the author continues with the life of GiGi and Ritchie, nicly flowing writing with some new characters added into the business, lifes ups and downs, and in this case very much up, towards the end of the book of course. Great friendship between Ritchie and GiGi, mum of course getting in the way, thinking she knows best. Nice easy feel good read.

Historia
I'm one of those fashion consultants that are so popular nowadays among the upper crust, although I started ages ago. Choosing the right clothes for the right occasion is not an easy task: the dress has to match your personality and, if it can, enhance it. This story is about how I abandoned the rat race, spending days in a legal office, and followed my dream of becoming a fashion consultant. I believe I'm something more though, I'm a retail therapist and I'm sure you are itching to know the story about how I started and how I helped my clients look fabulous!

short but fun
Revisado: 05-10-20
I have had the privilege of some really good books lately, another book, another 4 stars. This is a short novella quick read/listen, one of those fun books which you can listen to while doing other stuff around the house. It is too short but then again it is a prequel to Blue and Green Should Never Be Seen, and I listened to these books back to back.
Here we are introduced to Gigi, who loves clothes and we learn how she becomes a retail therapist, her background along with a little of Ritchies. Gigi is actually a really fun character, along with other characters in the book, I specially liked Ritchie.
A light hearted, fun, quick book. You might even laugh out loud on occasion.
Such a great cover!!!! Just love it

more twists and turns
Revisado: 05-09-20
So here is my review for the second book in the series. The Third Water, read the review for the first book here. Nick is back, this follows on nicely from the first. I enjoyed this storyline much better than the first, more of a techonothriller, full of action, nicely fast paced with lots going on, so much so Nick is unstoppable. There are more twists and turns. This storyline could be real in this modern world.
I enjoyed that Analise was back for this book, will she be there in the future??? it was an interesting mix with Analise and Bryony.

fast paced
Revisado: 04-30-20
4 Stars – that is pretty good as far as I aom concerned – This is a great book, why didn’t I give it 5 stars? well, I think it needs to be a super book for 5 stars, but this is great, fast paced, well written, easy to follow (I sometimes do other things while listening to an audiobook and if it is tough to follow, I get lost.)
Full of exciting moments, it gets faster paced as the book evolves. Nick is a very interesting character who we learn about as the book goes on. There are good guys, some really bad guys, some people who just got mixed up in the middle… a bit of everything, including romance, but not enough to put your off if you don’t like romance.
Good ending, nice and satisfying

Very funny
Revisado: 04-20-20
Just reading the title had me. There was no need to read the blurb to decide if I wanted to listen and review this book. It is a very easy to read, flowing book, with some so very funny parts, specially if you are listening. Very real life, well most of it.
Life at fifty isn't easy, specially when you have been dumped by your husband for another younger man after so many years of being together. Dating in modern times is so different from way back then
Giggles after giggles in this book, nicely written, well paced and some very interesting and unusual characters.
Thanks Tracie for a chance to review your book.

Stunning book, beautifully written, such a different storyline about the war with what happened in the UK rather than the typical warfront or POW camp book. There is plenty of emotion, details of the era and location, friendship, loss, love during the Second World War.
