Historia
Ibn Saud grew to manhood living the harsh traditional life of the desert nomad, a life that had changed little since the days of Abraham. Equipped with immense physical courage, he fought and won, often with weapons and tactics not unlike those employed by the ancient Assyrians, a series of astonishing military victories over a succession of enemies much more powerful than himself. Over the same period, he transformed himself from a minor sheikh into a revered king and elder statesman, courted by world leaders such as Churchill and Roosevelt.

Historia
On June 22, 1954, teenage friends Juliet Hulme - better known as best-selling mystery writer Anne Perry - and Pauline Parker went for a walk in a New Zealand park with Pauline’s mother, Honora. Half an hour later, the girls returned alone, claiming that Pauline’s mother had had an accident. But when Honora Parker was found in a pool of blood with the brick used to bludgeon her to death close at hand, Juliet and Pauline were quickly arrested, and later confessed to the killing.

Great work on an infamous murder case
Revisado: 09-14-14
What made the experience of listening to Anne Perry the most enjoyable?
The entire story of New Zealand's most infamous murder case has been throughly researced and well-documented by retired barrister Peter Graham. Graham was also a friend of late Brian McClelland who served as Juliet Hulme's defence back in 1954. I also own a paper copy of this book and it's the best work so far on this case which deal with the intense and strange friendship between Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme. They were also rumoured to be lesbian lovers which was further confirmed by a few lines Parker's diary (used as evidence material in court). The psychiatrists and the press also preceived them as lesbians. A treat of sudden sepration had led the girls to commit matricide. In 1954 they lured Pauline's mother, Honorah into an abandoned spot in Victoria park, Christchurch and battered her to death with a brick. Both girls were tried and found gulity and served 5 and half year each in prison. In 1994 Juliet Hulme was outed as famous crime writer Anne Perry in Peter Jackson's movie "Heavenly Creatures". Graham manage to interpret and analyze the story through court documents, doctors diagnosis and how this case absolutly chocked the world in the 1950's.
What other book might you compare Anne Perry to and why?
This is the first comprehensive work on the Parker and Hulme case.
What three words best describe Eric Brooks’s performance?
Bad, but it's not that hard to get used to Eric Brook's voice.
If you could give Anne Perry a new subtitle, what would it be?
"So brilliantly clever" - the original title of this work.
Any additional comments?
Highly recommended to anyone interested in true crime.

Historia
The Septuagint, the name given to the translation of the Hebrew scriptures between the third century BC and the second century AD, played a central role in the Bible's history. Many of the Hebrew scriptures were still evolving when they were translated into Greek, and these Greek translations, along with several new Greek writings, became Holy Scripture in the early Church. Yet gradually the Septuagint lost its place at the heart of Western Christianity.

Would you listen to When God Spoke Greek again? Why?
Yes, it's an excellent scholary work on the Septaugint with a critical approach to its manuscript texts and historical tradition. This is so far the best book I know of dealing with the manuscripts of the Bible from an critical and academic point of view.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, it was.
