Good stories, but I miss Susanna Jones

Usually, I would say I like male narrators narrating male parts, but after listening to Susanna Jones masterfully narrate this entire series, it was really hard to not hear the voices I was expecting. Also, one of the male narrator’s pronunciation of the word “didn’t”DINNIT do it for me. Drove me just about crazy to hear that over and over.

Julie never disappoints and the EOBS has made me so very happy because next month we get something amazing. Every time I listen to the EOBSsI, think to myself, Julie will you pretty please have a compilation of EOBSs like maybe one a year and tack it onto the last audiobook release of the year? I know that’s a huge ask, but it would be so cool. I think sometimes I like the EOBSs as much as the books! I also love how dedicated Julie is to putting out a huge number of really amazing books every year. The only downside is it’s hard to find books that are anywhere near as good while waiting for the next one.

Our legislative and judicial and current executive branches of government are so incredibly corrupted. I don’t know that there’s anything that will turn it around. Well there’s always partisan disagreement. I do remember when both sides of the aisle cared about the American people and what was best for American it is heartbreaking that that is no longer the case

Cute but male narration is distracting

This was a very cute naughty romcom. The female narrator did a pretty good job. The male narrator actually did a decent job, EXCEPT he has no concept of commas or places where you should take a breath or how to pace a sentence. A lot of sentences written like, “I looked at her, my thoughts on something else…” were read as, “Ilookedathermythoughtsonsomethingelse…” It took me out of the story. I ended up running his jumbled-together words through an internal”this is the way the sentence should be read” kind of translator in my brain, which I think detracted from the overall story for me.

I have always been a big fan of Sawyer Bennett, but this is just the best thing she’s ever written, and given that she’s written so many amazing series prior I’m just completely blown away. Apparently she can write any genre and kill it moving right on to book one I’m hooked.

All these stories were fairly well written with a few minor grammatical errors and errors in just the way things work. A veterinarian ordering ketamine in huge amounts, and no one questioning that is kind of laughable. A person with a music degree being told they can absolutely be a music teacher in Montana completely laughable. You might be able to teach music in Montana with an education degree though that would be a travesty, because you really do need to know music theory. Having grown up in Montana playing violin, which I have never once referred to as a fiddle, it’s hard for me to imagine someone going all the way through college getting a music degree playing the violin, and not particularly caring for classical music.

I had some issues with the story, but the biggest most huge problem with these productions is the fact that the narrator has no concept of the normal flow of the English language. She pauses when you don’t need a pause. She rambles right through words like she’s just reading them and not absorbing them, and I’m really not sure what the motivation is to continue with this narrator. All in all, these were free. I got a little taste of these authors to whom I had not previously been acquainted. If they got a different narrator, I might actually listen to more of their work, but as long as they’ve got this one, it’ll be a pass- free or not.

I liked this one. It had moments of the “old” KA. Yes, there’s still a bit of her recent penchant for preachy wokeness and the seemingly obligatory misuse of the word INFERRED where the correct word is IMPLIED (shame on her editors who let this embarrassing grammatical error get by them at least once in almost every book this NYT Bestselling Author has ever written).

However, when you get past that, you have a classic KA novel. The characters are layered and interesting, and you care about them and want to see them overcome their obstacles and find happiness. I liked this one a little better than the ones prior. Again, I think that’s because her “voice” reminds me more of what it was like in the Colorado Mountain, ‘Burg and Rock Chick days which is when I began to love her books.

I just can’t get into it. On chapter 7 and can’t deal with the female narrator. Breathy and weird accents. Should have paid more attention to previous reviews

I love everything these Uber-talented, amazing humans create, and they are THE go-to team to remind me of how the whole listening experience is supposed to be when I find myself in a listening rut (you know - when you listen to a decent story with some annoying grammatical errors or a narrator that’s mostly good but mispronounces words or whose inflection is not quite right), but with these guys, both together and Julie on her own, it’s always perfection from the writing to the audio performance to the EOBS. (Yes, the run-on sentence was totally intentional.) THANK YOU BOTH SOOO MUCH FOR BRINGING IT - EVERY SINGLE TIME !!!!!
💕💋❤️

Don't Miss This One!!

So, there are a lot of excellent romantic comedy-type romances right now, and that is awesome. In times like these, it's easy to miss some wonderful gems. Don't let this be one of them. Sure, it'll be good in five years when you come across it again, but seriously--why wait? THIS is a little different than the others -in the best ways. I did not know that Tanya Eby (an excellent narrator who is one of my faves) also was writing, and this is my first (but definitely not last) listen to a book with Sarina Bowen's name in the byline as well. I can't speak to how their writing is separately, but together, this is a magical writing team. This felt like the most FUN book I've listened to in a while. It was real in the way the interactions between the characters went, but totally "suspend belief for the sake of the full comedic effect in the story" in other parts that gave it a bit of a slapstick feel but not to the point of eyerolling, just to the point of perfect hilarity. The visuals you will compose in your head will crack you up. As others have said, the penis POV was just epic.

Luke Daniels and Erin Mallon were a perfect duo for this wild and crazy but also sweet and sentimental ride. Hold on! It's definitely a good one!
