I gave this audiobook 40 minutes of my time, and with every grimace my face shaped into, with every cringe moment, I still had hope that the awful premise was just a sarcastic setup and that it will eventually redeem itself. Afterall this book is supposedly an Amazon bestseller. Alas, it did not get better. This book is terrible, and the part that I found most difficult to accept is that it's written by a woman. It employs - without derision!! - every tired cliche about men and women that has already been fought and overcome with our blood, sweat, and tears. The men "bark" and the women "hiss." The men are violent and spartan, and the women are somehow both virginal and kinky. I wish the feminine gaze would not continue to promote these damaging, if not dangerous, contradictions about young women. Yes, women can embody lots of contradictions, but you're perpetuating harmful beliefs and promoting sexual violence by choosing to make your characters young college kids with little to no sexual experience who somehow agree to be bound, blindfolded, and "played with" by a stranger. While drunk enough to not remember much of anything the next day. Ultimately the characters are all kids (20-something-year-old college students) and some of them have never had sex, but they are somehow participating in consensual nonconsent? Also, dear author, an intoxicated "yes" is NOT consent. If you're going to deal with kink in your book, do your research and know that consent is paramount. Suffice it to say, I couldn't put up with this book past the very early stages, and ai find it difficult to believe it goes on for 13 more hours. And yet it does, but for me it ends here. I want my credit back.

a simple story written so profoundly

I loved the story, so much so that I kept going despite finding the narration distracting. she spoke as though she constantly had too much saliva in her mouth which was distracting and off-putting to me.

I couldn't finish this book. I did not enjoy the story, and much less so the writing style.
