It's 1953 in Red-baiting, blacklisting Los Angeles, a moral tar pit ready to swallow Easy Rawlins. Easy is out of "the hurting business" and into the housing (and favor) business when a racist IRS agent nails him for tax evasion. Special Agent Darryl T. "Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f--king miracle of being." Historia
Kiese Laymon is a fearless writer. In his essays, personal stories combine with piercing intellect to reflect both on the state of American society and on his experiences with abuse, which conjure conflicted feelings of shame, joy, confusion, and humiliation. Laymon invites us to consider the consequences of growing up in a nation wholly obsessed with progress yet wholly disinterested in the messy work of reckoning with where we’ve been.

Don’t Do It!!!
Revisado: 05-21-21
This book seemed a bit on the LGTQ side. I’ve never heard a man described himself as having thick thighs once let alone 7 or more times. The book gets a bit better towards the end but that doesn’t make up for the long drawn out weird beginning.

Awesome, An amazing story.
Revisado: 04-11-20
This book is a little different because the author explains the backstory of the chapters as you go through them. That threw me off a little bit and I didn’t think I would like him stopping the book to explain and give In-depth explanations. However the more I listen the more I liked it. This is a great book. It really gave me a lot to think about. It really explains how powerful the mind is.

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.
