Historia
Owen Larrabee is not my soulmate. He wasn't when I confessed my love to him on his wedding day, and he isn't now. I should probably say that I wasn't the bride when that happened. I don't have the best timing. He's got a temper, he's moody, and he has a history of being misunderstood and making big mistakes. I, on the other hand, make pumpkin cupcakes, spend my Friday nights curled up with a beloved romance novel, and long to be kissed in the rain. Owen is my best friend's older, off-limits brother and the only boy I ever thought I loved.

The narrators were the best. Wait, the story was the best. Ok. Both brought this wonderful story to best. Great character development. I could literally see the players and the settings. “Read” and enjoying!

Historia
Bertie Jenkins has spent forty years serving as a midwife for her community in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Out of all the mothers she’s tended, none affects her more than the young teenager who shows up on her doorstep, injured, afraid, and expecting, one warm June day in 1943. As Bertie and her four sisters tenderly nurture Songbird back to health, the bond between the childless midwife and the motherless teen grows strong. But soon Songbird is forced to make a heartbreaking decision that will tear this little family apart.

One of THE best novels with an exceptional narrator
Revisado: 12-08-24
I enjoyed the character development, the drama, the crisis, the gentle uplifting love story of mother/son, and the kind gentle Godly mature giver sharing the strong sense of Who God is and how He loves through Christ in an unconventional love. The narrator is absolutely the best. Enjoy!

A must read
Revisado: 07-31-24
Christy is not just a novel, it’s a life pored out in words to share with those of us completely ignorant of a culture and of a time in the history of our country. These words so eloquently said of a century where a people only barely survived, yet in the ministry of Christian workers there to help while they themselves struggled to believe in a God who seemed to be at times cruel to allow hideous circumstances, come to be part of a Love story strong enough to change the lives of these people and themselves.

A fulfilling delightful listen
Revisado: 03-27-24
The story was not only historical, but a thoughtful depiction of children who were orphaned from England to Canada. Some of the children finding love and care and others steeped in near slavery.
The narrator was one of the best bringing characters to life.

Revisado: 04-25-23
I’m from Nebraska and in health care so I was excited about this book. What if the author would have relinquished the narrator roll!? She is a great author, but her novel reading was flat. I mean, it was FLAT in affect.
After going through COVID the novel brought a new understanding of what we missed in a pandemic as we had research and options in care. The of the proportions as the influenza during WW1 was horrific.
Again, I pushed through listening to the novel. It was worth it!

Historia
One of the most revered works in English literature, Great Expectations traces the coming of age of a young orphan, Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations into a man of maturity. From the chilling opening confrontation with an escaped convict to the grand but eerily disheveled estate of bitter old Miss Havisham, all is not what it seems in Dickens’ dark tale of false illusions and thwarted desire.
