Historia
Business consultant Rose Josten might not have officially reached “pug lady” middle age, but she’s already got the pugs—along with their little Gucci coats and trash-lovin’ appetites. Still, life is good, with her work, her sisters, and a secret hobby creating incredibly tactile (if surprisingly sexy) mindfulness videos. So why does it feel like it’s not quite enough? Which is exactly when former filmmaker Ash Stewart enters camera left, and Rose’s world suddenly goes full technicolor . . .

Great characters, storyline, and narrator. Steamy but not over the top sexy scenes. "Satisfaction guaranteed" is great too!

As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers.

I love this book and RWKs reading of her own work. It calls me to figure out how can I enter into a more reciprocal relationship w the natural world, and how can I cultivate belonging in my natural and personal community. Thank you!

Desperately Dissapointed in the Narrator
Revisado: 09-21-18
I LOVE Deborah Harkness and the all Souls Trilogy. I was so excited to see that this book was being released on my birthday- what a fabulous treat! But Ive been listening to it for 3 days to and from work and I just can't get past the narrator. I want to like this, I really do. But I keep turning it off. Her voice is just too hard to listen to, low, and very raspy (lots of vocal fry). Her timing and tone are not very good. And I am so distracted by the differences in all the characters voices from the original series. I have read the All Souls trilogy in paper, and listened to them all multiple times on Audible. Jennfier Ikeda was stunning. The characters came alive with a richness and clear identities. This is all missing with this new narrator. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get Jennifer Ikeda to re-read this. I would have gladly waited for longer to get the same narrator. It is just too distracting.

Historia
Professional journalist and amateur drinker Bianca Bosker didn’t know much about wine - until she discovered an alternate universe where taste reigns supreme, a world of elite sommeliers who dedicate their lives to the pursuit of flavor. Astounded by their fervor and seemingly superhuman sensory powers, she set out to uncover what drove their obsession and whether she, too, could become a “cork dork”.

The author narrates wonderfully! Well written, fascinating, very personal, warm storytelling. The author/narrator pulled me in immediately. I loved this book!
