Historia
Do you ever wish you could just get rid of all of your problems? Research shows that we grow into our best and most joyful selves not when we avoid our problems but when we embrace them, confident that we are resilient enough to work through them to an appropriate resolution. Resilience is our ability to physically, emotionally, and mentally bounce back from adverse circumstances. In fact, our capacity to thrive in life depends directly our resilience.

Historia
We live in the age of speed. We strain to be more efficient, to cram more into each minute, each hour, each day. Since the Industrial Revolution shifted the world into high gear, the cult of speed has pushed us to a breaking point. Consider these facts: Americans on average spend 72 minutes of every day behind the wheel of a car, a typical business executive now loses 68 hours a year to being put on hold, and American adults currently devote on average a mere half hour per week to making love.

Loved listening to the audiobook, but needed to slow it down to 85% of original speed. There's a joke in there somewhere! :)

51 Chapters - no table of contents information
Revisado: 01-25-23
Individual segments are quite interesting, but there is no master list with individual writers and works discussed in each chapter. Some individual chapters are worth a re-listen, but no way to find them again. 50 classics without an index or detailed table of contents is practically useless. Why doesn't this at least have a PDF list online?

Historia
First coined by Richard Dawkins in The Selfish Gene, a meme is any idea, behavior, or skill that can be transferred from one person to another by imitation. Susan Blackmore shows that once our distant ancestors acquired the crucial ability to imitate, a second kind of natural selection began, a survival of the fittest amongst competing ideas and behaviors. Ideas and behaviors that proved most adaptive-making tools, for example, or using language - survived and flourished, replicating themselves in as many minds as possible.

British accent of narrator may not appeal
Revisado: 01-07-20
I normally like listening to books where narrators have British accents.
This book is an exception.
It reached a point that I shuddered every time I heard the word EEEEE-volution.
