Historia
The Metro books have put Dmitry Glukhovsky in the vanguard of Russian speculative fiction alongside the creator of Night Watch, Sergei Lukyanenko. A year after the events of Metro 2033, the last few survivors of the apocalypse, surrounded by mutants and monsters, face a terrifying new danger as they hang on for survival in the tunnels of the Moscow Metro. Featuring blistering action, vivid and tough characters, claustrophobic tension and dark satire, the Metro books have become bestsellers across Europe.

Good, but least favorite of the series
Revisado: 07-05-22
an interesting side story that fleshes out a character that was far more of a background detail in the first book, but slightly less compelling in its plot than 2033. The performance is on the same level as the previous book though, and only slightly suffers from needing to be compared to 2033.

Historia
On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all.

Extremely interesting hard sci-fi

As far as story goes, the use of multiple different characters with multiple different tales, alongside using different narrators for each, helps the listener develop a great image of each member of the group, establishing all of their grating and likable qualities together. The mystery surrounding each story is incredibly compelling to seek answers to within your own head, and seems to subtly prompt the reader in order to keep them guessing. The narrators each exemplify their character perfectly, and add quite a bit to the story. A great listen if you happen to work a job where you drive around a lot, like myself.

Heir to one of the leading "Four Horsemen" mercenary companies, Jim Cartwright is having a bad year. Having failed his high school VOWS tests, he's just learned his mother bankrupted the family company before disappearing, robbing him of his Cavalier birthright. But the Horsemen of eras past were smart - they left a legacy of equipment Jim can use to complete the next contract and resurrect the company.

Mostly good, little uncomfortable in parts.
Revisado: 12-30-21
A good coming of age story, but some parts in the middle and towards the end were a little uncomfortable to listen to, referring to the sudden erotic scenes.
The narrator was fine, but a little flat. Did a great job with the alien voices, though.
