Historia
Andre Norman’s early life put him on a path to prison. Raised in poverty and surrounded by dysfunction, Andre gravitated to his neighborhood gang. His choices there led to time in juvenile detention, and eventually a maximum-security prison, with sentences totaling over 100 years. During that time, Andre became one of the most dangerous gang leaders in the Massachusetts prison system. Then came the epiphany. Just before Andre was to be crowned “King of the Prison,” he had a realization—that he was about to become the “King of Nowhere.”

Faith and Resilience
Revisado: 01-24-25
Brother Norman,
Due to illness, I missed seeing you at the 2023 ASAE Annual Meeting in Cleveland OH. I am in awe of your faith, resilience and forgiveness shown in all that you have been through. I volunteer with Kairos Prison Ministry in Virginia serving in Greenville Correctional Center and your story sounds all too familiar. So many inside are blessed by your giving back and I thank you for saying YES especially to the youth who are at risk to ending up in prison. Thank you for sharing your life and more over thank you for giving back to those brothers still inside. You continue to make a difference in your community and God sees it all. Continued blessings to you and your family. I am a Cursillista and you spoke of so many close moments to Christ. You are truly walking your 4th Day.

Historia
Filled with sharply drawn, emotionally powerful senses, Walk Through Fire traces the hardships Sheila faced in her marriage and her professional life. Despite her skills as a violinist and music teacher, as well as her obvious entrepreneurial talent, she had to fight to overcome self-doubt and fears of failure. Sheila vividly details her struggles, including battling institutional racism, losing a child, suffering emotional abuse in her thirty-three-year marriage, and plunging into a deep depression with her divorce. And yet, out of that pain came renewed purpose and meaning.

Historia
Transformation is a process we all will go through. It is sometimes long, and often painful. But the truth is, what we think is key during a time of change. A transformed life is preceded by a transformed mind. How we think about our journey may make the difference between 11 days or 40 years in the wilderness. Just ask the children of Israel. In this four-part series, Joyce uses examples from her own life, as well as some of life's ordinary, everyday tasks to offer hope and encouragement for your journey.

Historia
Confessions of a Token Black Girl is a snappy comedic tale framing Danielle's first-hand experiences in Wisconsin and other places as the perpetual "token Black girl", fraught with dark moments and hate crimes. It's a coming-of-age-story but instead of finding herself during a road trip, Danielle found herself through the effects of racism. This book humorously chronicles Danielle's quest for understanding what Black identity means to her - instead of what it means to everyone else.

Leaves you wanting to hear more
Revisado: 01-11-21
Very interesting witness to the plight of a black woman the continued struggles people of color still deal with. I related to the stories on so many levels and it left me both feeling like I’m not the only one who has experienced such blatant acts of racism in her life and also left me wanting to hear more.

Historia
Being a black woman in America means contending with old prejudices and fresh absurdities every day. Comedian Phoebe Robinson has experienced her fair share over the years: She's been unceremoniously relegated to the role of "the black friend", as if she is somehow the authority on all things racial; she's been questioned about her love of U2 and Billy Joel ("isn't that...white people music?"); she's been called "uppity" for having an opinion in the workplace; and yes, people do ask her whether they can touch her hair all. The. Time.
