Historia
It was the election that would ultimately give America "Camelot" and its tragic aftermath. 1960 is a stunning recreation of the bare-knuckle politics of the primaries, the party conventions' backroom dealings, the unprecedented television debates, along with hot-button issues of race, religion, and foreign policy. And, at the center of it all, three future presidents - Lyndon Johnson, John F. Kennedy, and Richard Nixon. In this essential work of history, David Pietrusza chronicles 1960's struggle for power by bringing to life its towering events and personalities, unlocking its secrets, and turning expert scholarship into rich, human storytelling.

great narrator. decent story.

the book provides a thorough and mostly interesting account of the 1960 election but little on how the election "forged"/changed the candidates.

Bourne is basically Bond now
Revisado: 11-29-20
A good not great story with good not great narrator, that doesn't quite sound like I imagine Bourne sounding.(a radio drama of this would have been great!) I like the story much more than the Van Lustbader books I read. But it certainly isn't a continuation of Ludlum's trilogy. Gone is the switching between identities that made Webb/Delta/Bourne psychologically interesting. This Bourne is much more like the one from the movies which is ok. It just means there are a few to many cliches for my liking. how many times will the US government go after Bourne? Every time apparently. add in colorful the vllians and a romantic subplot and Bourne is a blue collar Bond. hopefully the next book can ditch some cliches and take some more risks.

Historia
In Why We’re Polarized, Klein reveals the structural and psychological forces behind America’s descent into division and dysfunction. Neither a polemic nor a lament, this book offers a clear framework for understanding everything from Trump’s rise to the Democratic Party’s leftward shift to the politicization of everyday culture. America is polarized, first and foremost, by identity. Everyone engaged in American politics is engaged, at some level, in identity politics.

Some great insights, but 2nd half theories could have been more cohesive. There were a few to many ideas. In addition, the policy solutions in the conclusion were simply OK.

Historia
The United States bills itself as the land of opportunity, a place where anyone can achieve success and a better life through hard work and determination. But the facts tell a different story - the US today lags behind most other developed nations in measures of inequality and economic mobility. For decades, wages have stagnated for the majority of workers while economic gains have disproportionately gone to the top one percent.

book could have been half as long. it hit some general ideas multiple times without diving deep into the data. Somewhat adressed why the economy is rigged, what could be done, but not HOW to get policies in place.

Behind today's headlines of billionaires taking over our government is a secretive political establishment with long, deep, and troubling roots. The capitalist radical right has been working not simply to change who rules but to fundamentally alter the rules of democratic governance. But billionaires did not launch this movement; a white intellectual in the embattled Jim Crow South did.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.
