Series Review: So much telling rather than showing
Revisado: 04-18-25
This first book is pretty decent, but the story telling in the rest of the series has serious issues that constantly break you out of the immersion into the story with some poor writing elements.
The author spends way to much time telling the audience things, rather than showing things by the actions of the characters. It was incredibly distracting. If I hadn't pre-bought the whole series, I would have stopped a lot earlier, since it really slowed down the rate I listened to the books at. Don't just tell me so-and-so is amazing, actually show me why they are considered amazing, and let me draw that conclusion myself. I suspect that if all of that content were cut out, the length of the books would decrease by a quarter to a third, but the overall quality would have improved greatly.
The author should also leave out the larger guild group's self cheers in combat. If the intent is to make them sound like a football team at the beginning of a game, fine, but in this context, it just sounded false/wrong and pulls you out of the story.

Good, but change in character voice by narrator
Revisado: 08-09-23
The narrator changed the voice for Dora, and made her voice sound like she has a lisp. It ends up making her harder to understand and wasn't necessary. After a while, it gets very irritating. The previous voice for Dora sounded much better. Otherwise, the series is good. I may have to just go with the ebook instead for the next book.

Amazing!
Revisado: 01-19-15
I love this series of books. The audio done by James Marsters is some of the best voice work I've ever heard.
