Thrilling and mysterious
Revisado: 08-30-24
What I disliked was I got to the end and....I need more of this with some more answers! Otherwise, I loved this! I love the psychological aspect and the thrilling Sci fi part, really hooked me from the beginning!

Seventeen-year-old Krescent Dune is buried under the weight of her dead parents’ debt and the ruinous legacy they left behind. The only way she can earn enough money to escape her unforgiving island is by battling monstrous creatures in an underground fighting pit. Could have been really good.
Revisado: 04-10-24
World building was crap, narrator was horrendous and so stilted. Disappointing overall and very slow in the beginning, then sped up and tried to get more interesting but I was already bored and didn't care any longer. Finished the book to finish, not because I was enjoying it.

Historia
These days, Wil obsessively gathers not-so-legal evidence on her mom’s disappearance while she and her checked-out dad try to make ends meet at their failing motel. They’re a hair’s breadth away from foreclosure, and the powerful Clarkes have their eye on the property. Elwood has been counting down the days until winter break. He hasn’t told anyone he won’t be coming back to school to finish out senior year—his pastor father is training him to lead their congregation, the Garden of Adam. But after one last night out with his friends, he comes face-to-face with a more chilling fate.

Mary Firth is a Stormsinger: a woman whose voice can still hurricanes and shatter armadas. Faced with servitude to a deathless pirate lord, Mary offers her skills to his arch-rival in exchange for protection—and, more importantly, his help in sending the pirate to a watery grave. But Mary's dreams are dark and full of ghistings, spectral creatures who inhabit the ancient forests of her homeland and the figureheads of ships.

readers fantastic, story unoriginal and boring
Revisado: 08-05-23
This novel was a struggle to finish. it had the potential to be good with my mind in the world of Pirates of Caribbean....then I realized how holy unoriginal this novel felt. It seems like rather than just being in the world of Pirates, it was more regurgitating storylines...and not well.

Awful book, waste of timr
Revisado: 03-03-23
Don't even bother with this trash novel. the narrator was great, even with such a bad novel. The main character is an entitled EXTREMELY spoiled and privileged chick who is a complete idiot with a fake job where she literally just Googles stuff? it was so damn bad on so many levels....

Historia
The one thing you never talk about while you’re in the Scholomance is what you’ll do when you get out. Not even the richest enclaver would tempt fate that way. But it’s all we dream about: the hideously slim chance we’ll survive to make it out the gates and improbably find ourselves with a life ahead of us, a life outside the Scholomance halls. And now the impossible dream has come true. I’m out, we’re all out. We saved everyone. So much for my great-grandmother’s prophecy of doom and destruction. Ha, only joking! Actually, it’s gone all wrong.

Disappointed with the final book
Revisado: 11-15-22
I feel like the first two were way better. This story didn't seem to make sense in a lot of it and just felt boring compared to the previous books. Very happily ever after, not in a good way.

After all, it isn't as if the brooding rogue has any real plans to marry - though there is something about the alluring Miss Bridgerton that sets Simon's heart beating a bit faster. And as for Daphne, surely the clever debutante will attract some very worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable.

Historia
Margaret MacMillan looks at the ways in which war has influenced human society and how, in turn, changes in political organization, technology, or ideologies have affected how and why we fight. War: How Conflict Shaped Us explores such much-debated and controversial questions as: When did war first start? Does human nature doom us to fight one another? Why has war been described as the most organized of all human activities? Why are warriors almost always men? Is war ever within our control?

Quite good with the history or war and different viewpoints with civilians and military, that is often not seen but greatly appreciated with this book by this combat veteran!

pretty unimpressed by this, you can tell all the stories that the author got ideas from and it's wrapped up in a lovely grade B horror movie type feeling. Meh. not bad so I finished it, will never read again
