Beyond golf: Trump's destruction of our country.

Rick Reilly is a consummate narrator of the damage Trump has done to our country. And Golf is both sport and metaphor which sets out, one example at a time, the scope and depth of the deceit and division that Trump -- truly, a demonic presence -- has wrought in our country. Reilly is indeed prescient in his words of foreboding of the cataclysm of January 6, 2021 -- and of the rifts in our society which continue to carom spontaneously from place to place, propelled by social media, and a political system which cares only for its propagation and power. AND all of his insights PREDATED Covid -- with its cataclysmic impacts on our country and its people. If all of the "talking heads" of our modern media had just read this book, they would have known what this person truly represented for our country, and of the repercussions which reverberate now, every single day.

Narrators: chill out!!!

All of the narrators put far too much dramatic emphasis into their voices -- they must have trained in the "breaking news" school of voiceovers! Calm down and channel your Cronkite instead.

Johnny Heller - accents are NOT your strength!

First of all, when you're the narrator, Johnny Heller, trust me: DON'T attempt accents. They are NOT your strength. "Boston" was overdone but when you did "Working class British" the pain began, and worst of all was "Australian" -- tragic!! And one more thing: the correct pronunciation of "aquifer" is aqui -- fur, as in "fur coat", NOT aqui- FIE - r, as in "wood fire" -- okay?!!

Time for a dialog coach!

John McLain, you sorely needed a dialog coach on this narration. Your attempts to pronounce the German language properly made me wince, and ruined the story.

Formulaic; needs the denouement

This is probably a good crime thriller to pass a few quiet hours for the younger and/or naive and inexperienced reader. But for those of us in the 40+ crowd who have experienced life, the quick and tidy wrap-up, which denies the reader a realistic denouement, leaves a shallow, formulaic feeling.

I'll keep this brief, and most of all, please do realize I'm not some fringe wacko. Instead, please dive into this audiobook. Yes, it's dense. Yes, it's complex. But oh, how true and valuable it is: for you, for your children, and for your grandchildren. I know you love them and want the best for them: so listen to this, and from these truths, choose the options which will free your descendants from a narrow and defeated fate and instead take the tough but certain choice: a country which truly cares for its people.

Because the "American Dream" -- unless regained through a catastrophic revolution -- is dead. I'm NOT an extremist! I grew up in the 1950s, when American corporations still cared for their employees and their communities, and that's what enabled me to afford college, build a great career, and a comfortable life. But that dream, for most of you and your families, is gone. You have options, and you have a chance: assemble the actual data. Ignore the spin of "journalism" and the media. Think for yourselves and find the truth!
