From start to end, kept me engaged. Dr. Michael Heiser opens into the way he sees the show "Stranger Things", and it is glorious.

Angels: What the Bible Really Says About God’s Heavenly Host

Historia
In his latest book, Angels, Dr. Heiser reveals what the Bible really says about God's supernatural servants. Heiser focuses on loyal, holy heavenly beings because the Bible has a lot more to say about them than most people suspect. Most people presume all there is to know about angels is what has been passed on in Christian tradition, but in reality, that tradition is quite incomplete and often inaccurate. Angels is not guided by traditions, stories, speculations, or myths about angels.

Much more substantial then current cultural views.

This is not a story driven narrative, rather, this a logical scholarly exploration of ancient texts that have been persevered.

Historia
The First World War laid waste to a continent and brought about the end of innocence — and the end of faith. Unlike a generation of young writers who lost faith in the God of the Bible, however, J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis found that the Great War deepened their spiritual quest. Both men served as soldiers on the Western Front, survived the trenches, and used the experience of that conflict to ignite their Christian imagination.

Revisado: 07-10-19
I love the works of Lewis, I usually am not a fan of works about Lewis. So my expectation going into this book was tempered by that outlook from the start. This book turned out to be a wealth of informant about the setting in which both Lewis and Tolkien took up their pens.
This is a great book and I highly recommend it.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

The story is grand, intelligent and very well put together. The author knows his stuff. Made me a believer.
Look, by now you've already seen the movie... but if you can help it, get it on Audible. Because you would miss out a lot of story from just watching the movie, and secondarily, and perhaps more importantly, the narrator is FRIGGIN EXCELLENT!

But Apollo has many enemies - gods, monsters, and mortals who would love to see the former Olympian permanently destroyed.

Revisado: 09-08-18
Love the narrator! This guy is an example of what separates the good narrators from the great. Honestly it makes the world of difference to have someone act out the smerks and nasal laughs during dialog. really really good narration!
Story is good, dispite being overly liberal in values. I wouldn't give it to my kids to read, but as an adult I can salvage the good and pray for the author as only God, can change the outlook of a man.
The writing is EXCELLENT. Rick should be proud.

Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen - all of them - and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood - the blood of Olympus - in order to wake.

Good overall story. But...
Revisado: 08-23-18
* I do not like homosexuality being in a kids book. I'm taking one star away in view of my convictions. Not even once did the caring friends suggest a therapist to help their friend deal with his mental disorder or at least offer an alternative opinion. Instead, it is applauded and accepted as a normal lifestyle. Very harmful and really one sided in my opinion.
The rest of the story was moving and exciting.
The narrator had gotten better in the course of the two books but still needs work expressing emotions. But again, much better then the previous book.
Leo is still a fantastic character. I want a series about him and his new girlfriend.

At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

Good story with current social issues...yeeey🙄 Not appropriate for all ages.
Revisado: 07-24-18
The narrator, while a having no problem with pronunciation, was not very skilled at putting emotion into the storytelling. Something the narrator to the previous books had excelled in. The voiceovers for the ladies got downright cringe at times, especially during sentimental or moments of anguish. Again, not terrible, but needs work.
Social issues...aaarg! No don't do this. Not a fan of current social issues in the story. Honestly, the Cupid arc was really unnecessary. Really. The notion that sex is the thing that defines who you are is downright rediqulous. And if we're going to be all tolerant about certain Greek perversions, let's include the stories about children falling in love with their parents, or how about siblings? Like I said, I read books to escape this reality, Rick, please don't force these opinions into the story. The story arc of Cupid was forced. Made Cupid more of a jerk that gets off on watching the sexual disorder he had created. ... really? *sigh*
The rest of the story was interesting. Wanted more of that.

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy - after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera - it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon figurehead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans.

Revisado: 07-13-18
Really enjoyed the story and the narration. Top notch. It wasn't as funny or as original as "The Last Olimpian" but it isn't slacking in the story department.
This is also the first book in the series without closure in the end. Which only means I will be buying the next one immediate.
Finally, this Greek/Roman story is turning into something really special.
