Historia
Cris Burks won widespread acclaim for her engaging first novel, SilkyDreamGirl. Burks' second offering follows the life of a determined girl struggling toward adulthood in 1950s Chicago. The devastating discovery that "Daddy" is not her real father opens a great chasm in Neecey's world and leads to Neecey's abusive mother bringing a succession of no-good men into the home. Nevertheless, as she grows into a woman, the resilient Neecey strives to overcome despair and forge a new life for herself.

Enjoyed
Revisado: 10-29-10
I really enjoyed this book. Sometimes it made me angry on the things they did, but I really enjoyed it. It takes all kinds of people to make this world, and all kinds of mothers are included in that group.

I really enjoyed this book. The ending was very good. I wish it would have continued a little further, but all in all it was a good read.

Historia
Savannah has awakened to the fact that she's made too many concessions in her marriage. Bernadine has watched her megadivorce settlement dwindle. Robin has an all-American case of shopaholism. Gloria has taken happiness and security for granted. But being at the wrong place at the wrong time can change everything. All four are learning to heal past hurts and to reclaim their joy and their dreams; but they return to us full of spirit, sass, and faith in one another.

DON'T DO IT AGAIN
Revisado: 10-29-10
First let me say I love Terry McMillan. But to say the least, Terry please don't read any of your books again. Your calling is to write. Others are to read. I cannot get past the first chapter, because I cannot bear the tone of your voice. No ups or downs, running words together, and just plain flat. Next time please let someone else who is trained to read, read. All I can say is that was a wasted credit.
