Historia
Nando Parrado was unconscious for three days before he woke to discover that the plane carrying his rugby team to Chile had crashed deep in the Andes, killing many of his teammates, his mother, and his sister. Stranded with the few remaining survivors on a lifeless glacier and thinking constantly of his father’s grief, Parrado resolved that he could not simply wait to die. So Parrado, an ordinary young man with no particular disposition for leadership or heroism, led an expedition up the treacherous slopes of a snowcapped mountain and across forty-five miles of frozen wilderness.

Everyone should read this!

This is by far the most amazing and unbelievable survival story I have ever heard, and I love hearing it from Nando's perspective.

A soap opera in the form of an audio book
Revisado: 05-07-22
I gave this a try just for the heck of it and once I confirmed it was dumb I skipped through it just for kicks. It was almost entertaining BECAUSE of how corny it was. If you like soap operas, maybe you'll enjoy it... But if you don't, you'll hate it.
I don't want to be mean to the author or narrator because I know there are worse books out there, and I guess it wasn't ALL bad... but I wouldn't reccomend this to anyone.
I'm not sure if the narrator was terrible or I just didn't like her style of narrating.
And the story had potential... Maybe... But never reached its potential.

Historia
Humankind's relationship with the wolf is the sum of a spectrum of responses ranging from fear to admiration and affection. Lopez's classic, careful study has won praise from a wide range of reviewers and improved the way books on wild animals are written. Of Wolves and Men explores the uneasy interaction between wolves and civilization over the centuries, and the wolf's prominence in our thoughts about wild creatures.

Very good book!
Revisado: 04-01-22
A freind recommended this book to me awhile back but at the time there was no audio book version of it on audible that I could find. I prefer reading books to listening to them of course, but I like to listen while I'm working, so when this finally came out I immediately used my credit on it and didn't regret it.
A very good, thought provoking, educational, interesting book. If you are interested in wolves, you should read it.
The narrator did a great job. I am very picky about narrators. There are a few very unimportant things about the narrator's performance that I could nitpick down to a 4 star rating if I wanted to be unreasonable, but I gave him 5 stars because compared to 95% of the other narrators I have listened to on here, he did an absolutely amazing job. LOL!

Historia
All her life, Valancy Stirling lived on a quiet little street in an ugly little house and never dared to contradict her domineering mother and her unforgiving aunt. At 29, she's never been in love, and her only consolation has been the forbidden books of John Foster and her daydreams of the Blue Castle. Then, one day, she gets a letter and decides that things need to change. For the first time in her life, she does exactly what she wants to and says exactly what she feels.

Enjoyed it
Revisado: 03-18-22
It's not Anne of Green Gables, but I enjoyed it. The narrator was not the best but 1,000 times better than most of the narrators I've bern listening to lately. LOL!
L.M. Montgomery is one of my favorite authors, and she wrote a few of my favorite books, but she can get a bit over-dramatic and unrealistic with her storylines and characters sometimes in a way that has occasionally got on my nerves. This book did that a little bit in places, but at the same time, the over-dramatic, unrealistic romantical silliness is exactly why I read Montgomery's books. They are a fun escape when I am feeling stressed.... unless of course it's one of her more depressing stories, and this one definitely has a few sad places, but as I said at the top... I enjoyed it. :)

Mixed feelings...
Revisado: 03-18-22
I feel bad saying this but the author was slightly annoying to me for some reason... Hard to explain why... He was not too bad though, and I did find the stories interesting. I am an avid off-trail hiker and have had to help rescue a few people we stumbled across off-trail before, so I am always interested to hear stories like this and possibly learn more about search and rescue, etc. But I wouldn't say this is the very best book about this kind of thing.
The narrator was not very good in my opinion, especialy when it came to acting out the dialogue. He gave the characters about as much personality as a cardboard box... but he was tolerable and I got used to him.
3 or 3 and a half stars is about all I can give this book. I wouldn't tell someone they should read it, but I also wouldn't say they shouldn't. It's included with audible, so it's worth a try if you like this kind of thing... LOL!
