Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Riveting from start to finish
Revisado: 06-23-24
Packed with excitement, great character development, interesting story lines and excellent narration. You can’t help but root for the heroine and her friends. I had a couple of late nights, because I had to read “just one more chapter.”

Historia
My compass is gone. Nothing holds meaning anymore, and nothing will—not until I bring my best friend back home. It is all I want to do, but there is so much more going on. A sadistic Midnight Witch has a secret vendetta against one of the most powerful Skews in St. Louis. She is mass-producing monsters and sending them all over the city to sow chaos. As if that wasn’t enough to keep her busy, she develops a new vendetta against me after I ruin her plans. But when she goes after the man I love, things reach a new level of messed up. I will take her down, even if I go down with her.

Narrator Switch
Revisado: 08-27-23
The change in narrators was distracting, but I adjusted. I really liked the intensity of the narrator in the first four books, which is missing here. But the storyline was good and all the hanging plot points were wrapped up, so all in all I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Historia
Some people greet the day with open arms. Sheriff Sunshine Vicram would rather give it a hearty shove and get back into bed, because there’s just too much going on right now. There’s a series of women going missing, and Sunny feels powerless to stop it. There’s her persistent and awesomely-rebellious daughter Auri, who’s out to singlehandedly become Del Sol’s youngest and fiercest investigator. And then there’s drama with Levi Ravinder—the guy she’s loved and lusted after for years. The guy who might just be her one and only.

Loved it!
Revisado: 12-23-22
This final book in the series really delivers. From funny and snarky to suspense and action. It is entertaining, emotionally satisfying and, sigh, leaves you wanting more. One of my favorite authors paired with my favorite narrator. They’re a dynamic duo! Looking forward to what Darynda Jones has planned next. And hoping whatever it is will be narrated by Lorelei King.

Book 2 Even Better than Book 1
Revisado: 08-14-22
I really enjoyed Sand and Shadows Book 2. The action started right away and there were several interesting twists. Like in the first book, there was a Shelby crossover, and I have a feeling the next Shelby Nichols book will have an Ella crossover. I look forward to reading the next books of both series!

Historia
As a trauma nurse in a New York City hospital, Ella St. John had no idea that refusing to help a known killer would have such dire consequences. Being sent to the middle of nowhere is bad enough, but when she crosses paths with a handsome stranger, everything changes. She can't deny the attraction blossoming between them, but that is nothing compared to the trouble he brings to her door. Helping him could be the biggest mistake of her life...if she manages to live long enough to regret it.

Enjoyable spin-off of a favorite series
Revisado: 08-08-22
I enjoyed getting to know Ella and Creed in this first book of the spin-off to the Shelby Nichols series. The narrator was easy to listen to and did a great job of bringing the characters to life. My favorite part was the Shelby, Ramos and Uncle Joey crossover. Hearing those scenes from a different point of view was great. At that point, the action picked up and I couldn’t stop listening. A lot was explained at the end, so it will be interesting to see where book 2 takes Ella and Creed.

Keep 'em coming, Patricia Briggs!
Revisado: 03-15-17
Patricia Briggs delivers her usual perfection with another great storyline. I love that each book in this series introduces us to new and interesting places and people, while showing us growth in longtime characters. Characters? Who am I kidding? After reading and rereading this series so many times, they are real to me!
I love the way that Mercy always ends up in the midst of trouble and usually ends up rescuing herself, but only mostly. It's great that as "weak" and "insignificant" as she is, she can make such a difference in so many lives. The power of one, supported by the power of many. We could all learn from that. Also, I liked the fact that there is an interesting twist at the end that will shed new light on my second read through.
This is my favorite series read by my favorite narrator. They make a fab combo, so I was extremely disappointed that Lorelei narrated only about half of the book, but I'll make that complaint to Penguin Audio, since that is out of Audible's control. I would suggest others who feel this way to do the same.
