Decline can be avoided. Decline can be detected. Decline can be reversed. Amidst the desolate landscape of fallen great companies, Jim Collins began to wonder: How do the mighty fall? Can decline be detected early and avoided? How far can a company fall before the path toward doom becomes inevitable and unshakable? How can companies reverse course?

Clear, concise and effective

I was surprised by the length of this book being a bit short, but it is actually a benefit to the message given. Considering this was written in the middle of the recession and the demise of many once great companies. As an entrepreneur looking to create a great service and product but also to maintain our quality, this provided very valuable examples of what not to do.

Love this book! Much of many things written before but differently impactful
Revisado: 08-21-22
Some reviews knock on the self promotion this author has but that is precisely what he talks about in the book. If you are in business or growing your business you HAVE to promote(let people know) what you do or sell.
This brought me back to many fundamentals from other books that teach or give examples of how to set a great foundation, create a mentality of abundance and possibility, push forward towards your goals and to live the life you dream of.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Fundamental Reminders
Revisado: 05-24-22
It’s always good to be reminded to be financially grounded. This book does that and more.
In 2022 once again we are reminded of all that influences us to make “rational decisions” that aren’t really.

What an amazing life & dedication to become what you want
Revisado: 08-19-21
I was very surprised by Stephen’s life. I wouldn’t have thought that he built his life and company with the conviction that he did. Definitely hard work and intelligence to build what he did.
If you strive to build your own company or have a vision for an organization there will be lots of failures, rejections and unforeseen events. This book gives you an insight of that and how you keep moving forward if your purpose is strong enough.

In his most provocative and practical book yet, one of the foremost thinkers of our time redefines what it means to understand the world, succeed in a profession, contribute to a fair and just society, detect nonsense, and influence others. Citing examples ranging from Hammurabi to Seneca, Antaeus the Giant to Donald Trump, Nassim Nicholas Taleb shows how the willingness to accept one's own risks is an essential attribute of heroes, saints, and flourishing people in all walks of life.

Lots of contradictions and some valid points but he doesn’t have skin in the game he talks about either
Revisado: 12-31-20
If you want get angry or ruin your day or be in a bad mood listen to this book.
There’s a lot of valid points in who to blame on war, crimes and injustice but he skips all the characters that have brought the world to where it’s at now in geo politics”
Lol he hates Obama and Hillary and who doesn’t but that also takes away from a lot of the book since he obviously has a bias.
The world is filled with teachers and coaches who have never played the game. Some are great at teaching & coaching by helping some who will have “skin in the game” and be great in the field.
By that same logic whatever he is preaching has the exact correlation and contradiction by what he is doing here.
There’s an obvious biased system set up in the University and Political System.
It’s the pay to play system that detaches those who end up being affected by the actions of those who never have will have a shot except be a victim to the policies. By the author writing this book he does the same by suggesting a solution with no skin in the game and veering people’s beliefs into an dark area that could be worse than what we already have.
The idea here is “if I did it with my resources and background why can’t you?” Individual life is deeper than that but he should run for office and set up an organization to have some skin in the game.
One of the most interesting suggestions is that if you leave people or peoples to solve their problems by themselves by just conducting commerce things will resolve but he forgets that war is always caused by commerce advantages and disadvantages.
Money is always the root cause of war.
Too much taxation, not enough money, market changes. But I’m sure he has been paid well from publishing this book.
You got my $6 lol

Mind Changer
Revisado: 12-30-20
As someone that was trained take pride in “doing the work” this changes your mind about how to repurpose that idea. Having someone else help you reach your goals with their skills is not being lazy it’s an accomplishment.
This book has many examples of how to make the best use of your time, money and skills.
What I’ve learned is that I have to be specific with the task or job passed on to have the best results.

Historia
In his early 20s, Curtis Jackson, known as 50 Cent, rose to the heights of fame and power in the cutthroat music business. A decade ago, the multi-platinum selling rap artist decided to pivot. His ability to adapt to change was demonstrated when he became the executive producer and star of Power, a high-octane, gripping crime drama centered around a drug kingpin's family. The series quickly became "appointment" television, leading to Jackson inking a four-year, $150 million contract with the Starz network - the most lucrative deal in premium cable history.

Historia
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.
