I was amazed at how sophomoric the book is.

I was unable to find anything remotely redeeming in the book, so I struggled through it as far as s I was able, but the mush was too thick to penetrate. I had heard that the intelligentsia was reading this, so I was expecting something on par with "The American Religion" by Harold Bloom. If in fact the "intelligentsia" is reading this book, then we are in desperate need of an "intelligentsia" which is actually in possession of an intellect.

Hedonistic, otherwise an great message.

Ayn Rand was a hedonist, so her promoting hedonism is hardly a surprise. Other than that she shines a much needed light on some of the many failings of collectivism in this book. Unfortunately many today haven't had a good look at Statism, call it what you may, Fascism, Communism, Socialism, Dictatorships, leftist utopian oligarchies one and all. This book shines a very narrow, yet thought provoking light on the collectivism which any oligarchy wants to impose upon the masses.

Unfortunately Napolitano misunderstands pragmatism

Unfortunately Judge Napolitano does not understand that pragmatism is a tool of the left He incorrectly states that the founders were pragmatic. Pragmatism was not developed until nearly 100 years after the Constitution was written. The founders were intellectuals. Pragmatism is an anti intellectal method of problem solving, so called. Intellectuals investigate, debate, and exhaustively explore a given problem in an attempt to find the most viable solution possible in order to avoid unintended consequences.

Pragmatic approach is quite different. The pragmatist throws a solution, or even multiple solutions at a problem. They understand that there well be unintended consequences, but are more concerned with immediate response than they are with finding eloquent solutions which spin off minimal unintended consequences. Rather they expect unintended consequences and intend to pragmatically deal with them as they arrise.

Obviously those solutions will often result in their own unintended consequences. As can readily be grasped, this is a very sloppy method for dealing with problems. It is anti intillectual in it's nature and would have been completely reprehensible to our deep thinking intellectual founders.

I was disappointed that Judge Napolitano so misunderstood our founders and suggests that they would ebrace such an intellectually bankrupt philosophy which has been so central in the destructive legislation which has been enacted in this and the better part of the 20th century.

Intellectuals, for instance, understand human nature and account for it in their politics. Thus they understand that government welfare necessarily revolves around the lowest common denominator. That being the case it is immediately obvious that many who are not deserving will receive it.

Furthermore, one of the stated missions of the Church tis care for the poor. That caring for the poor by the Church will tend to result in less abuse as those just wanting a free ride will generally be weeded out, where as the government being restricted to operating with out the benefit of local discrimination is forced to squander precious resources on the freeloaders.

Furthermore, that the governments intervention in the Church's work is a blurring of the separation of the Church and the State. While State governments are not necessarily so restricted, the Federal Government has no businesse in this arena for that reason as well. Of course there are myriads of examples, that is merely one such example.

As long as the reader is aware of this flaw, he can expect to learn quite a bit from this book which is good and correct technically and historically. I highly recommend it with the exception of my stated carve out.

One of the most compelling books I have read.

What made the experience of listening to Fearless the most enjoyable?

I honestly believe that SEALs tend to be people who have had to learn to overcome extreme challenges in their lives which forged them in people who are far more capable than most at dealing with the most severe challenges imaginable. Adam Brown's story and life certainly supports that theory. That these men's lives are often extremely harsh, and that most of them none the less remain extremely compassionate, as was Adam Brown, is a true testament to their fidelity to humanity. It is humanity they are attempting to defend. Only in a free nation can human's truly flourish. SEALs understand this better than most. It certainly seems odd as they live within such a structured, disciplined community, largely forsaking or at lest procrastinating those liberties for themselves. In this book you'll find a man who consistently and then ultimately gave his all. He faced adversity after adversity and would never surrender to them. Adam Brown inspired those who's lives he touched, and continues to inspire those fortunate enough to have read this book. We would all do well to emulate his resilience, and devotion to those he loved.

Wow, what an intellect.

What did you like about this audiobook?

No. This would be better if read as you tend to focus more when you read than when you listen.. You do not try to multitask when you read, and this book requires attention and provokes thought. When listening you will need to re-listen to many sections unless you are able to completely focus on what is being said, and pause it as needed to think through what is being said. This is not a book for intellectually laze people.

Good reader.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

It made me think and certainly educated me on quite a few things.
