i read The First Bad Man earlier this year and it blew my mind- i came into this novel with sky high expectations and somehow it still knocked me over with emotions! This one is a must read!!

i knew the narrator was bad but WOW

The narrator they use for the first 2/3 of the book cannot do any accents, nor can she even do male voices (it’s a low bar, i’ve never heard a professional female narrator who couldn’t pull off male characters before) and she’s covering a wide cast of characters on an international mission. Truly whoever produced this audiobook straight up hated the author.

They say “write what you know” and Tom Hanks knows how to make a movie, so that’s what he wrote about. It’s fine and fun, but be warned that every character is weirdly obsessed with coffee and they ALL refer to show business as “the business of show”.
He knows how to craft dialogue though!
