Pretty good but a pattern is starting to occur.
Revisado: 04-16-25
So the story is starting developing in a way that I get a little annoyed by. Basically, the main cast has gotten so powerful with little to no repercussions. Even in the most intense situations there was always some ex machina that saved the day. It's fine every now and then but its been well constant...at least for me anway. It eventually makes those intense moments feel pointless. And my god was Stella so annoying and hypocritical in this book I'm starting to think she'll turn into a Mary Sue. Hell I was more focused on Douglas or Diane and was always miffed with Stella every time she opened her goddamn mouth and I'm mentally thinking (Please just be quiet.) That's how bad it got for me anyway.

Historia
Try as he might, Fischer still can't catch a break. Tropica's forces have just perpetrated the fantasyland equivalent of crashing the king's party, kicking over the punch bowl, and making a series of rude gestures on their way out. Unfortunately, they're about to learn firsthand that when you take a bully down to the mat, it's best to make sure they don't get back up. Because their enemies are unearthing long-forgotten powers, and if those dabbling in the resulting destructive chi succeed, they could become even more annoying than the time Corporal Claws hid all of Fischer's pants.

It's great...but not excellent
Revisado: 04-09-25
I mean for the most parts it's entertaining and relaxing with neat references here and there. However, the story gets rather repetitive especially for its 3rd installment. Any "conflict" or "trouble" is easily brushed off as "Bro im Fisher im just built different." And for goodness sake you could have called this book "Heretical Cooking" with how much detail it went into the food making/tasting and how truly little there was of fishing. Hell you could call this series "Fisher and Friends Wacky Adventures" and it'll still be the same book. Like replace the word "fishing" with anything else for a skill and the story would still mostly be the same. I hope this series doesn't spiral into the whole "I'VE BEEN ISKEIED NOW IM THE WROLDS STRONGEST" type BS. I'm gonna be real honest I also feel like the narrator is probably carrying this Series by a good bit. It's a fun series if you just started or only have read/listened to a few books like it but the novelty wears out real quick if the authors not careful. Maybe the next book will be more interesting but I guess we'll see.

Nicely wrapped up even if it felt a bit rushed
Revisado: 01-13-25
Like I said it felt very rushed towards the end what with the power spike and of course the bittersweet ending (no obvious spoilers) which I suppose is Jakes Fate always gaining power but never truly accomplishing what he wanted. Another book would have been great just to fill in some holes or expand on certain storylines but I also know that time travel or reality warping tends to mess with the any narrative.
Overall great series and the author switch wasn't as big as deal as I thought it would be. Since another Jake from Primal Hunter voiced by Travis fits him more while John fits this Jake more.

Hold on there's another series that supposedly continues with the series. Mostly centered around the Dragon World.
Revisado: 12-22-24
Like everyone I was disappointed in how it ended especially since in almost all the other books they came out unusually in an ok or even great position. So I went researching more in to the series since some books were made a while before they became audiobooks. And that's where I found Path of the Dragon and the events that might happen next. However despite knowing that...the ending did feel rushed. Like maybe a couple more hours to really flesh out the endings of all the MAIN characters.

Just a damn rollercoaster of a story.
Revisado: 09-09-24
So to put it simpley most of the main characters that you see have certain "quirks" that make each one unique to themselves and as the story goes on those "quirks" begin to expand. For some of the characters it's a good thing but for most not so much at least in my opinion. Wizards become more arrogant, certain figureheads are naively self-assured, workers become extra eedy, certains aliens become annoyingly aggressive and so on and so forth. The story overall is good... it's just that most of the characters actions and reasons are just really stupid sometimes. I don't know how that galaxy sustains itself. It seems most people there are stupid, arrogant or lucky. I think I only really liked the engineer and the techie and that's it everyone else was just getting on my nerves. Oh and word of warning Esper appears only twice in the story. Once to be a self righteous nuisance, and two to be a useless self righteous nuisance.

Historia
The galaxy’s worst bounty hunter just might be its most relentless hero. Esper Richelieu is a wizard with a mission: To make the galaxy a better place one lost soul at a time. Donning the trappings of an interstellar bounty hunter, she delves into the galaxy’s underworld to search out those most in need of help. Whether it’s a teenage runaway or an actor kidnapped by cultists, the victim comes first. Money is an afterthought. That confuses a lot of clients. But sometimes the best way to get someone to accept the help they need is to convince them to pay for it.

Great time waster
Revisado: 08-23-23
To be blunt and nonspoilery the main character Esper is a Mary Sue and not like the well written ones. It really says something about the character when you're more invested in the side characters instead of the main protagonist. Speaking of side characters it seemed every female was either hot intelligent or both (most of them being thirsty for Esper) while guys seemed to be brutish and/or outright retarded. I counted like 4 guys that were not incompetent and even then something was wrong with them. If it wasn't for Kubu and Wesley Wesley (my name's Wesley so bonus) being in the story I probably would have stopped around mission 4. If you finish the 1st mission whatever feelings you have it's going to be the same for the rest of this book. I wouldn't recommend this book unless you have only 1 credit and want to listen to something for hours until you get more. And make sure you read Outlaws first. It's not really necessary since I didn't read outlaws ( didn't know there was a previous installment) but it does give some context but I hear it's better than this book but that could be a double edged sword deal.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 07-11-23
So when I read the preview I figured it would be a battle for survival. People struggling to do the right thing vs. survival. And uhhh it did do that for a time. But then it went off the rails with religious acts of divine/evil intervention halfway through the book which kinda ruined it for me. Not to mention these "acts" also affected the characters and turned all of them from being unique individuals to just one of two types of characters. We're Evil people but we're scared or We're good people let the Lord guide us type of shenanigans. And it seems one character's only purpose was to have a crying counter Jesus they cried a lot. It's a decent enough book but not something I would recommend...at least not for our time with religion dying down.

Revisado: 05-17-23
I am a constant reader of this series and I like most of them but this one felt slow and out of place. It felt more like a bunch of short stories rather than one long story. Like someone said before it doesn't get exciting like the other books until the end. It was meh with small peaks of excitement/amusement for 4/5 of the book then one huge spike of mystery and awesomeness and then almost too quickly went back down. It just made me go "Oh that's it? huh...alright probably just a filler/buildup for the sequels"
